Why would you expect an industry based on looks to be fair?

Unnactractive people might want to model fashion too. Ain't gonna happen.


because the industry used to be much more merit-based. so not fair in a sense that everyone can make it, obviously, but fair in a sense that what mattered was if you had the goods rather than if your parents were rich. there used to be a lot of models from middle class (hello kate moss) even poor backgrounds and much fewer of those with "famous" last names. now it seems the opposite, and these new models are not particularly stunning. some are pretty and can kind of pass for a model but none are outstanding.


How is that different from many other industries? Just look at what's happening in the White House! Not saying it's fair but it's not unique to the modeling world.


it's not unique it's a trend happening everywhere. it's a bad trend regardless and the nature of fashion is such that we stare at it every day
