Yes. They get paid for the extra month of work. |

Teachers went from 10 month contracts 12 month contracts.
But I don't understand some people on this board. If you think extended year is so great enroll. You have 11 schools to choose from. No need to wait and hope your school joins. When you do enroll please come back and tell us how much you and your kid love it. |
I don't understand some people on this board. If you think summer vacation is so important, enroll in a school that has a long summer break. You have a lot more than 11 schools to choose from. No need to trash this plan, which will actually be good for a lot of kids who don't go to sleepaway camp or fancy family vacations in the summer. When you're complaining about the cost or scarcity of summer camp, please come back and let us know how that's going. Seriously. It's not like 95% of the people on this board are affected in any way by this program. When was the last time you were in Ward 8? Have you ever been there? |
Actually unlike yourself, I am affected by this plan. I live in Ward 4 (Petworth) and an inbounds for Raymond. Raymond is one of the 11 extended year schools. So thanks so much for your snark Ward 3 mom |
My child goes to one of the extended year schools. So far, it's been fine, but it's also September. |
No one is saying they mind if the option is available. But the title of the thread is about whether the program would be expanded to all DCPS. Some people want summers off, some people want 180 days distributed throughout the year, some want an extended calendar. |
