PP. I’m fine with that. I don’t think it’s borderline. I don’t think anyone should refer to a black woman (any color) as a dog. Yes, I can’t stand Omarosa and hate what Trump called her.

I am the OP, and I'd like to point out that the willingness to allow fintech companies to impose bullsh*t fees is firmly bipartisan. So yes let's tone down the attacks on the Mayor, but don't be fooled that this is a partisan issue.

what a terrible software vendor. I'd research others for them to switch too AND check out who owns Myschoolbucks in case it is a Trustee or insider at the school. TOtally skimming and payment software is cheap nowadays. or do on paypal.

Not only is there a transaction fee each time...but the limit how much you can put in per transaction... I tried to just put in for the whole year..... to get just one fee...but they don't allow more than $120... so basically they are ensuring more transaction fees.

Gaia wrote:I can't afford to put that much on at once. I don't remember the last time I had that much money sitting in my bank account for more than 10 minutes after payday.

I have to put two week's worth of food $ on every two weeks for two kids. Those transaction fees add up.

It sucks.

Do you have checks? I send checks directly to the DC Treasurer's office and there's no transaction fee.

Is this how you do it? Can you send a check to school directly (Deal)? Is there a kiosk at Deal?

Expensive being poor.

You need to complain to your school district if there is no “membership” option for about $12 a year and no additional fees. That’s not on MySchoolBucks because there are districts locally that have that option. Sounds like some school districts didn’t push for that option.

And why would OP use usurious and then cray cray, which must be the dumbest phrase ever.

That's just the way I perambulate, yo!

Perambulate on, parsimonious dude!

Are these lawyer jokes? Either way they’re funny

It’s not just about finding and choosing another vendor. The county or state has to put out a procurement that other vendors will properly respond to and then be chosen as the winning bid. They’ll be looking at things other than just fees for the families. If there was another bidder, maybe they had less in fees for parents, but charged the district more to compensate for that.

Can anyone opine of where the kiosks are located?

This thread was started in 2015. There used to be a kiosk in our elementary school (Janney) back then but it broke and they took it away, never to be seen again. I recall commenting on this thread back then. Then I used checks. Totally outrageous system. My kids went back to bringing lunch so I haven’t engaged on this in a long time.

I’m sure PPs know when the thread was started. Sometimes people search to find related topics so as not to start new threads all the time. Then when they do start a new thread, inevitably someone will say “use the search function to find your answers.”

The person asked about kiosks. I was providing info that there were kiosks in 2015 (I used one then) and pointing out that the discussions of kiosks dated back to then and also shared the information that they may no longer be an option as the one I used disappeared and was never replaced. If you have seen kiosks in 2019 that would be useful information also. If not, think about how useful your comment was and maybe think before you post since you appear to think you know the rules of what may be useful to people.

Both usurious and cray cray are well-known terms of art. I'm not sure why anyone is perseverating on this.
