Me again, to clarify "an outrageous large debt"

We have a random debt and our child has never had school lunch.

Everyone at our school is getting told they have $3 debts. We’re a free lunch school. It’s ridiculous.

Me too. My kids have never had school lunch and would refuse it even if I purchased it for them, since they report it’s disgusting. Somehow both my kids now all of a sudden have outstanding debts.
I will not be paying them.

We are not at Oyster Adams but also have received a letter for a debt from a prior year. It wasn't an outrageous large amount. I did email the person from the letter and they responded quickly and resolved the matter.

How can they report it's disgusting if they've never had it?

I sent an email to the food.dcps email address telling them that my child had not eaten school lunch and I was not paying the debt. Haven't heard back yet but I assume they'll deal with eventually. It's annoying though because it feels like this thing I now have deal with and monitor.

I also emailed them and received a response that the charges have been cleared.

You’ve never seen and smelled a plate of food someone next to you is eating and thought “yuck!”???

You are all crazy! If I put $100 on my kids account it would be gone in 2 weeks!!!! There is no limit to what the can spend per day. Others are right, if its a percentage thing it should be a percentage! If I'm putting $10 in and paying a $3 fee that's a THIRTY PERCENT FEE not a 3% fee that the credit card company charges. This should be illegal!!!

Our school won’t accept cash or check. It’s frustrating, but I’m letting the negative balance add up.

Why is this thread still going on? Dcps' new vendor does not charge any fees.
