S/O Moms who look put together

I work out at home (p90x, insanity, weights, run, etc), maintain my nails at home (no need to go to the nail salon), I shop online only (except for my weekly grocery shopping). My nightly routine consist of putting my child to bed, working out, showering, do my nails, shop online, do my hair. All together, only takes about 1.5-2 hours after my child fell asleep so I am in bed by 10. In the morning, I wake around 7 and all I have to do is my make up. I only get my hair cut about once a year. My hair is long, thick and curly. All I have to do is wash, put a product in and go.

Are you married? Post-bedtime is our together time. I know I have to wake up early to get back into working out habitually and I'm fighting it so hard, but I can't imagine devoting every minute I would otherwise have with my spouse to personal maintenance.

I guess I could file my nails while we watch TV and maybe put on a face mask, but that's not going to tone my ass.

You could do the bow flex while you watch tv! I'm pretty sure that used to be one of it's selling points.

Hold that thought! I'm thinking of the thighmaster. Jeez I'm old.

I’m not replying here as a put together mom! But i heard after 40 or 45, women should stop doing so much hard cardio and focus on strength training. So I started lifting and feel like I look better and stronger.

Is anyone getting cat eye manicures in the Nova area?

Would you generally be considered an overachiever (you went to a top school, have a great, prestigious career, etc) or are you just ambitious in your workouts? What drives you to get up at 5am to workout when you could just sleep in like the rest of us?

Fear of being dumped or cheated on.
Fear of being fat.
Insecurity.
Vanity.

PP - You seem threatened by morning people which is a weird take.

To answer the question, I'd probably be considered an overachiever in some places but in DC I am one of many. I have multiple ivy league degrees and am the CEO of a mid-sized organization (I'm also happily married, modeled in my teens, and genetically slim to dispel the idea that I'm afraid of being dumped, getting fat, or insecure per PP). I started working out because I found it helped my mental health greatly and its much more pleasant to be in shape for day-to-day life as opposed to being weak and injury prone. 5am is the time that works for me so I can be present with my kids before school/work and in the evenings.

I have been doing 4:30am workouts since I was in my 20s 😆 I'm 52 now and still working out at that time. I go to bed around 9pm. My children think I'm nuts but whatever.

Lifting heavy is great. And you don't need to do it daily, Two or three hours a week with any reasonable program will get you really far.
