| To the moms who look put together, fashionable, and in shape all the time: How much time do you devote to shopping, gym, getting hair and nails done, etc.? How do you manage to fit it in with work and a family? I think it is important to maintain your physical appearance and look good, but it can be exhausting at times! |
| I online shop at about 1 in the morning, don't go to the gym or do manicures, etc. Haircuts every two months or so. I work out with weights/insanity/runs when I get a half-hour a few times a week when I get up or, more often, in the evening. I'm put together, and for me I think the main part is that I've figured out what clothes look good on me, and stick pretty much to those. And always awesome shoes. |
| I do spend a lot of time keeping myself together. I have a very demanding job and probably forgo things to keep my self up. I spin 2x a week, weights 2x a week, run 3 times per week. Usually always at 5:30 am. I get my hair cut weekly (short fro), I get a mani/pedi every 2 weeks. I shop a lot online or at TJ Maxx when I get a moment. I shop when I can. I have tons of clothes. I tend to buy my shoes online. My vice is a full time housekeeper. I don't have a big house or fancy car so the housekeeper gives me the time I need to work, spend time with my family and keep myself up. |

I look and feel put together.
I am thin, watch what I eat most of the time, have simple cardio equipment at home which I rarely use but sometimes do, have a carefully crafted collection of not very expensive clothing that fits me well and accessorizes easily (J. Crew, Gap, Aqua from Bloomies, etc...). I have long straight hair which helps with the maintenance. I wear makeup every day but not much. I don't get my nails done or get facials or anything, but I stay neat and moisturized and clean. I have a lot of shoes and purses to mix up, and they help keep me looking "cool" and organized (lots of pockets!). I have a bunch of big necklaces to switch things up, and I usually wear black or gray or denim or a single stripe or color so my clothes mix and match. I'm young (34) with one daughter, so that probably helps that I don't run myself ragged with three kids. Also I work from home most of the time, so a lot of the soul-crushing logistics that many go through are absent for me, and that is big. If I shower in the am, follow a simple beauty routine (hair, minimal makeup), and have clean clothes to put on that are simple and always fit and pair well with others, I just take 35 minutes to do that and get going. |
| Single mom of one child, that works full time, out of the house. I do everything when my child goes to sleep. I work out at home (p90x, insanity, weights, run, etc), maintain my nails at home (no need to go to the nail salon), I shop online only (except for my weekly grocery shopping). My nightly routine consist of putting my child to bed, working out, showering, do my nails, shop online, do my hair. All together, only takes about 1.5-2 hours after my child fell asleep so I am in bed by 10. In the morning, I wake around 7 and all I have to do is my make up. I only get my hair cut about once a year. My hair is long, thick and curly. All I have to do is wash, put a product in and go. |

I work out 6 days a week befor my kids wake up. I either do hand weights or a video (no gym for me).
I love clothes and fashion, so shopping is my my therapy. I go about once per month to check out sales and new stuff. I love it. I get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks, and highlighted about twice a year. My guy does a great job, so there are no roots to worry about. I am a make up junkie, so I love trying new colors and products. Looking good (or my best) is important to me. I don't find it exhausting at all. |

I don't buy or keep any schleppy clothes. I don't buy expensive clothes, either, but what I buy is current and cute. Instead of wearing yoga pants, I wear good jeans. Instead of sneakers I wear cute boots or flats. Instead of a plain t-shirt I wear a fun top or sweater. It takes the same amount of time to get dressed since that's what I always wear and it's all I have. Then, I always wear some kind of interesting jewelry and carry a good bag. I wear a tiny bit of makeup (less than five minutes' worth: moisturizer, concealer, blush, mascara, lip gloss), just enough to look awake.
I don't know whether other people think I look put together, but I feel good. |
| Work out at lunch every day and run on Saturday. Hair trim/ highlights every 10 weeks on a sat ( schedule all appt a year in advance). Nails at home or salon every week, eyebrows ever 2 weeks on a sun, shop online or when I have to . Buy lots of fun jewelry and great shoes to make any basic oufit look great. I work full time and try to squeeze in errands after gym or super early AM. |

I'm a 45 year old SAHM of four, ages 15 to 7.
I have a great hairstylist. I go every 7 weeks or so for trim/highlight/color. I like changing my hairstyle and do...bangs, layrs, long, short, lighter, darker, I do it all. I whiten my teeth with pro trays several times a year. I work out at home on a treadmill 4-5 times a week. I am petite with curves and really have to spend some time shopping for flattering clothes that fit properly and proportionately and are age appropriate. I'm a bargain hunter and am always on the hunt for great looking fashionable clothes that I can wear every day. Shop mostly at target, tj maxx and thrift stores. I own nothing precious and like updating my wardrobe with necklaces from charming Charlie's, for instance. Same with shoes. I'll buy several pairs of trendy shoes (flats and heels and sandals) from Payless and count on wearing these one season. I always wear some makeup and style my hair. More time means more makeup and more hairstyling time. I am fast...even today, racing off to church, I spent maybe ten minutes drying and styling my hair, period. |
| I shop online, do my own nails, and go to zumba twice a week at 8 pm after kids go to bed. Doesn't take a whole lot of effort or time but makes me feel like myself. |
What shoes do you wear? |
| Yes, what shoes ?? I can put an outfit together, but never the shoes. |
Np. I think shoes are important too! For me, it depends on the outfit. I try to find shoes that elongate my legs (I am petite), and I pick a color that accents my outfit. |
| What stores/brands are you put together moms frequenting? |
This is me, except I go to the gym, 5 a.m. |
