Are you in a friendly neighborhood or unfriendly?

Takoma Park. Couldn't be friendlier.

Bethesda 20814 - very friendly, tight-knit neighborhood. I think it helps that we have an active listserv.

What if they bring you baked goods but turn out to be a-holes? Kind of with the attitude of "well, I brought you baked goods..."

I've had them come over at 2 am to watch a baby while I took another to the ER. I've had them be at the end of my drive with jumper cables when they heard the "click" of a dead battery. It's pretty awesome.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Looking at that site I wonder what kind of rallies they have. Do they involve a Grand Wizard?

You are embarrassing your entire zip code, Arlington 22205, by being a bully. In a thread about which neighborhoods are friendly. Well done.

I looked at that Twitter site and I'm 99% sure it was started by some students at Marshall HS to rib some of their classmates who live in Pimmit Hills. It's in bad taste, but so is most of what shows up on Twitter.

Fairfax- very friendly. Our neighborhood has a mix of families with young kids (us), families with teens, empty nesters, and more "senior" folks. Everyone says hi when walking through the neighborhood; folks wave from their cars. We have various neighborhood events that get a nice turnout (Halloween parade, National Night Out).....I am looking forward to the Easter Egg Hunt this year!

We waited for over a year for a house on a certain street, not because of its prestige, but because a friend of ours loved her street and neighbors and really wanted us to move there. The street has been everything she promised. Neighbors range from young new parents to empty nesters and grandparents and everything in between. The mix is great and everyone is super friendly. The older families LOVE all the little kids moving in - totally dote on them.

All I'm saying is, you have to do your research. There is more to choosing a house than just the house itself.

This is very much like my street. I'm in Vienna Woods. Love our neighbors and the range of families from young couples with small kids, to couples with elementary and teen kids, empty nesters and senior citizens.

On a nice day, everyone is outside chatting and kids are playing. Someone always breaks out some snacks, wine or beer.

Oh where is this street?! I am in Vienna Woods, too, and we don't get much of this. Everybody on the street is super nice and nice to each other, but there is NO socializing. Sad.

Anonymous wrote:I'm in a friendly North Arlington neighborhood near Yorktown HS. In the warmer months, people walk around a lot with their kids and pets. It's unusual if someone *doesn't* say hi to you as you pass by, whether they know you or not. On halloween, everyone walks around with wagons and beers, trick-or-treating, and you'll get invited in for a drink. We're thinking about having a block party this summer. The neighbors on our street who have kids are the most friendly; the child-free younger renters are less likely to say hi, but my guess is they're just living there and not looking for a community.

Hi neighbor!! (And I agree).

Where at?!

Eastern Loudoun. Might as well be France to some of the people on this board.

Well. Not France, exactly. Suburbs of Des Moines, yes. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

How do you know if they are genuine or fake?

Am I the only one who doesn't want to eat baked goods from strangers?

I'm the first 22205 poster back on the first or second page. Looks like there's at least one other poster but I'm not sure how she's linked to the nastiness above?

Sorry, just protecting my very friendly 'hood from a bad rap!

Very friendly, Park View, NW DC. Our street has a mix of young families with infants, who bought recently, couples without children who also bought recently, three-generation AA families who are super friendly, plus a few houses undergoing flips.

Extraordinarily friendly. Downtown condo building.

Very friendly neighborhood now- Carderock Springs. We lived in AU Park/Spring Valley for years when the kids were younger: started off friendly but over time grew less so as people moved and new folks came in. That said, we still have friends who live there, and the parties we've attended have been decidedly fun and full of friendly people.
