Do you buy different milks?

When DS1 was small, we only bought whole milk and we (DH and I) dealt with it. We didn't drink much milk, just with cereal, coffee, and for baking.

When the two boys were ages 1 & 4, we switched to buying 1 gal each of whole & 2%. Baby drank whole milk, the rest of us drank/used the 2%. I started drinking more milk in this period, normally a glass with breakfast each day.

Now they are a bit older and we're all on 2%. It does make things a bit easier, but we go through two gal per week, so it's not like it changes how many containers I'm buying.

DS#2 just turned one and I switched back to buying only whole milk. DS#1 is super skinny as it is so he could use the extra fats, DH doesn't mind it and I don't drink milk so it works for us. I will likely go back to 1% or 2% once both kids are over 2 yo.

Honestly, we go through so much milk that just keeping milk in the house is hard enough. Keeping two kinds of milk may drive me over the edge.

If you want skim, you could get a smaller jug for yourself but in my house, the adults only use milk for coffee and an occasional bowl of cereal on the weekend so no point IMO.

obesity starts at home

You people are brainwashed about danger of whole milk. If you read the latest info about it, it actually says that skim milk doesn't prevent obesity, but you get so much more from whole milk. Eat less of processed foods, move your body, and everything is going to be okay.

How do you know that avoiding full fat milk is the ONLY thing she is doing to make healthy choices in her life?

Most people who are health minded avoid saturated animal fats. I prefer to get my saturated animal fats from poultry, lean pork, eggs, and yogurt with the majority of my fats coming from unsaturated sources. I find whole milk unnecessary.
