If I didn't, I would tell you. And as soon as you ask that, I'd deducting a bit from your tip.

This is stupid. As a wait person there are a great many people out there who say nothing about what's in the checkbook, they don't say if they need change, or don't need change, or if they are splitting a check on two cards, or if they want change for the 20 and the bill on the card.

So when there is cash in the book I always ask if the person needs change, it saves me a trip back to your table to ask you five minutes later. The fact you would deduct something off my tip for asking this is absurd

Actually in upper class restaurant's they tell you to never ask for change back. It is not appropriate and it disrupts the guest and their experience. Always bring change back unless told otherwise. You must work at a sports bar. Show class...bring it back....don't ask.

I take my two kids to a place deduto kids. They charge $16 each and are fantastic with the kids and will squeeze the second one in if I don’t make an appt. I always pay $40 total on two $16 haircuts.

I don’t tip. It’s their job! Tipping is getting out of hand. No one tips me for doing my job!

3 dollar if it was great service. 2 dollar if the service was adequate.

At least $3. Probably $5. Also have always based the tip for kid's cuts on how fussy/disagreeable/or difficult it may have been (my son used to have a hard time with cuts). But never less than 20%.

When it's a small charge like $15 for a hair cut I don't tip on percent because it would be (imo) too skimpy of a tip. I would tip $5.

Yes, it's their job and part of their pay comes from tips. Not all, but a lot of it and the owners consider it.
It is what it is. Tipping is getting out of hand is like saying they should work for free 20 minutes out of an hour.
Let's make tipping disappear altogether and then not tip.
Cut your own hair.

For people who work for the chains like Supercuts, most of their compensation is from tips otherwise it's just minimum wage.

You obviously make more than the minimum wage.

I’m confused as to why we tip barbers and hair stylist when they have prices listed? Can someone explain to me? I sorta get the reason we tip at restaurants due to their service. But honestly sometimes that’s kind of ridiculous when their working for a million dollar company only getting paid $4/hr.. The job they got hired for was waitress/waiter, so that’s the task they are suppose to do, and a lot of times they don’t do nothing extravagant to deserve something extra but still I tip excessively because I know what they are paid.

I am not confused.

We tip $6 on a $14 haircut for DS. Same person everytime. Same great haircut. Worth every dollar that I hand directly to barber shop employee.

You obviously never worked in the service industry (I did not either, but see sentence #1).

I always tip $10. I have been seeing the same lady at Hair Cuttery for a few years after going to more expensive places. She does a great job, especially on my son who has very thick hair.

I certainly would tip the 5 bucks on the cut because I know a lot of the poor folks and cheapskates don’t tip near enough or at all. Sort of a small way to give back and cover the rest who do not.
