You mean stories or fantasies, right? By everything we know about death, your brain stops functioning and your body decomposes. Everything else is a story based on hope, fear or religious belief or hallucinations close to death.

Or hopes and dreams and fears. Regarding your ex -- don't worry - if there is a heaven, it will be heavenly - i.e., everything will be wonderful, meaning he will definitely not be there. Or if he is there, he'll be in a separate compartment where you can't see him.

Then again, once you get to heaven, perhaps all your earthly dislikes will vanish and you and the your ex and all your other former and curent loved ones will get on swimmingly.
