Do you believe in life after death?

My religion does. But me, not so sure. Do you believe in life after death, and if so, why?

Have you ever watched a tv show (on the biography channel) called "Beyond and Back?"

I think you might be interested in it.

I wish I did. But more and more - I think that when we die - it is over.

I don't believe in life after death. I think it's something people made up to explain natural inequities in life, or hope for some semblance of justice, or cope with loss.

To me, there is only this life. This is where it matters and counts. I do good for my fellow members of humanity (and my own conscience), not for some reward or payoff when I die. It encourages me to make the most of now, as that's all I believe there is.

I believe in reincarnation. But not immediately after death - about 15 months or so after death does a soul become reincarnated.

I think I do

I think our energy continues somehow. I don't believe in a stereotypical heaven.

I believe in nothing.

I don't. I wish I could, though.

Of course not. Just as we did not exist before we were conceived, so we do not exist after we die.

I think there is something after death but I expect it to be so different from my current "life" that I would not use that word. As someone once said, "what was your life like before you were born?"

No. And I'm not religious

Yes.

That's a good way of putting it. I don't believe that our soul's energy is extinguished when we die, but I don't believe in a literal place called Heaven like I learned as a child, either. And even though I believe our energy continues after death, I don't see that as a justification for keeping poor people down ("your reward is in heaven") or for not doing what we can to improve life here and now.
