56 and pregnant. ask me anything

Adoption because:

-we are old. plain and simple. I don't wanna be 60 and chasing around a 4 year old. I don't think its fair to restrict a kid because I don't want to run around with him/her
-I don't want to depend on the fact that my older kids will take care of the child if something happens to us.

Wait - are you OP?

yes

How can you give up your own child for adoption???

Well I am quite thankful that my birth parents gave me up for adoption!! My family is amazing and I certainly wouldn't be where I am without them!!

I cry bullshit.

one thing to get pregnant at 56 (I had mine at 38 and 42)

but to post and THEN add open adoption?

total bullshit

But you do think its fair to the kid to give him up for adoption? Like, that will make their childhood typical?

Everyone depends on someone in case something happens to them. You are lucky to already have grown children.

Is it a boy or a girl? Did you do maternit21?

Everyone depends on someone, but as pps have said, it is very likely that we may not be around/able bodied before the kid is 18. most people have someone to depend on, but as it stands, it looks inevitable that the child will need care other than our own anyway.

Was your #3 planned?

They feel that we have been good parents to them, they think we could raise another, but the eldest supports our choice of adoption
