I would not encourage vandalism. It doesn't turn out well.

OP. for what is is worth, I live in the Langley school district but my daughter has chosen to attend Marshall. We went to presentations at both schools and asked a lot of questions. My daughter decided that her strengths were better suited to the IB program and not the AP program. She also liked the fact that Marshall is a small high school and she thinks she will have more opportunity to "stand out". (Her words, not mine). While Langley might be ranked higher (honestly I have no idea), for us it was more important to find a school that was a good fit for my daughter. All of the schools mentioned in this thread have different academic programs and different school cultures, but are all excellent from an academic perspective.

Personally, I think the Marshall basher who can't let go of the outdated and probably inaccurate US News ranking (who may or may not be the OP) must feel threatened by the fact that Marshall gets better all of the time. I'm not sure why that's threatening, maybe she worries that her McLean district house (which could actually be in Falls Church) won't capture the same premium price if Marshall is desireable. Who knows? It's just odd that she wastes so much time on here bashing Marshall. There has to be some underlying motive.

"which could actually be in Falls Church"? What is that supposed to mean? Have you seen the houses being built in Falls Church area that feeds into McLean HS? They are all over $1.4mill.

Yes. The area east of WFC metro in 22043 feeds into McLean but is part of Falls Church. Who cares how much they are? Perhaps Marshall basher paid $1.4 and is concerned because a similar house in the Marshall district would be cheaper and if Marshall is desirable, people might choose that.

Also, not all of the houses in that area are $1.4. There are many $700K shit shacks.

How would people in other school districts know whether Marshall is geting better or worse? I don't think people in the Langley, McLean or Madison districts feel "threatened" by Marshall at all. Why should they? Because a few Marshall boosters like to claim non-stop that Marshall is "up and coming"? I don't think so.

Personally, I'm bored to tears with this US News crap, but don't use it as an excuse to start hyping Marshall, Pimmit Hills, etc, yet again. Enough is enough.

Flip side must be that Marshall folks touted a phony US News rating for a year so their $450K shit shacks would be worth $500K some day.

Maybe, but my 1950's brick shit shack in the Marshall district is worth close to $800K so it must have worked.

Oh, and before you ask, it's not in Pimmit Hills.

Looking at the number of upper-end sales in the parts of WFC zoned for McLean and Marshall would alleviate such fears rather quickly.

If you want to call your house a shit shack, no one will stop you.

I'm realistic. I like my house, but it's nothing super high end and certainly nothing that in my wildest dreams I ever thought would cost so much money. We're in a nice neighborhood. It's not like there are cars on blocks or anything. I call it a shit shack in jest, but I'm sure those in $1.4 million houses would look down in it and probably would call it that. I'm ok with that.

We live in Marshall district and I think it's great, but the couple of Marshall braggers need to get a life. There are plenty of great schools in Fairfax and it just makes them look stupid to brag that other school districts are jealous of them. Feel free to brag all you want about Marshall, but when you start saying people in other school districts feel threatened, that's when you lose credibility with me.
