I'll take this as a retraction.

+1. The participation rate obviously did not go down 41% in one year. The prior rate used by US News was wrong.

No marshall on this list!

Since US News clearly got it wrong in 2012, why would anyone place any faith in their ability to scrub the data and catch all the errors? No local public school other than TJ has a 99% AP or IB participation rate, and no school's participation rate would ever plunge 41% in one year.

If you don't grasp that, you are pretty dense. Marshall is ranked 12th in the county by US News this year, about where people familiar with FCPS schools would have expected.

So when the findings suit you they are credible but when they don't they lie?

The 58% participation rate is much closer to the rates reported previously for Marshall by FCPS, so it's far more credible. Nice try.

When calculating the rank using IB participation at 58%, as USNWR did in 2013, Marshall is ranked 16th in the state. When calculating Marshall's rank using 99% IB participation, as it did in 2012, USNWR erred.

Marshall ranks 16th in Virginia.

This is such a silly thread. If folks are concerned about the "incorrect" ranking, why don't they contact USNWR or FCPS? Posting here does nothing (except perhaps make them feel superior).

Which is why they continue to do it. As soon as it makes it to the second page, someone (and we can all guess who) bumps it back.
Dead horse. Beaten.

What's silly is Marshall's blasting of the ranking over the Internet, billboards and every school meeting, knowing the rank was based on 99% IB participation.

Funny you still put "incorrect" in quotes. When does the denial and delusion end?
