Why is there so much racism against Asians?

Anonymous
I am married to an asian american (chinese). All races are racist. Some of chinese descent have been horrible to me- white and towards AA. Some AA seem to equally dislike asians- see problems in Philadelphia, PA. Some AA are horrible to lighter skinned AA. Some whites dislike anyone not white. And on and on it goes....

I wonder which qualified applicant your token acceptance pushed aside. Many people work hard -- you do not get a free pass because of that. Americans are sadden by your racism after haven been so accepting of you.

Uh, Asian Americans don't get affirmative action; in fact, it's sort of the opposite. So they didn't 'take' anyone's spot.

You are so ignorant it is painful. Yes, they do get affirmative action.

I can speak for South Korea.
Probably similar to most of the Caucasian countries in Europe.

Having been most everywhere over there, I can say money is no. 1. If they think you have it, they are friendly enough.
Mostly they act like you are invisible to them.

Oh no. It is the "you are so ignorant it is painful" poster. Thank you at least, for not shouting ignorant in ALL CAPS.

Affirmative action for Asians? Yeah sure, Asians are actively discriminated against. There are plenty more sources out there if the NY Times is not good enough for you.

This decline might seem small. But these same years brought a huge increase in America’s college-age Asian population, which roughly doubled between 1992 and 2011, while non-Hispanic white numbers remained almost unchanged. Thus, according to official statistics, the percentage of Asian-Americans enrolled at Harvard fell by more than 50 percent over the last two decades, while the percentage of whites changed little. This decline in relative Asian-American enrollment was actually larger than the impact of Harvard’s 1925 Jewish quota, which reduced Jewish freshmen from 27.6 percent to 15 percent.

The percentages of college-age Asian-Americans enrolled at most of the other Ivy League schools also fell during this same period, and over the last few years Asian enrollments across these different universities have converged to a very similar level and remained static over time. This raises suspicions of a joint Ivy League policy to restrict Asian-American numbers to a particular percentage.

Will make sure to leave 'race' block either 'empty' or 'other' for my kids college applications. It's not mandatory right?

As far as I know - at some colleges - Asians are actually over-represented and definitely DO NOT get affirmative action. In fact - some find it hard to get in.

I'm not Asian and am all for leaving the race block empty. In FCPS though, if you read the race info registration form, it says school personnel will basically look at your kid and guess what race he/she is if you don't fill in the information yourself.

Not true if they want to assimilate. An Asian mom once told me to get test prep and outside testing down from a specific provider to get 1 of my kids into GT. Anyone ever been to an elementary school science fair where projects look like they were done by college students or professional engineers? Grading based on end product?

Asians DO NOT get affirmative action. Please tell us what school, university you think gives Asians affirmative action.

The question is asking how non-Asians are treated in Asian countries. Could you further explain "similar to most of the Caucasian countries in Europe"?

Also, give more detail about how non-Asians are treated in South Korea, please?

Thank you.

I found people to be quite accepting in Vietnam. Can't speak for any other Asian countries though.
