A nanny's job is to provide safe, quality care for her charge/es. Not to play hostess to your irritating family. The occasional visit from Grandma is, of course, wonderful. This post is talking about having Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt and great Aunt Helen over several days per week, every single week. THAT is way, way beyond the scope of a nanny'a responsibility. |
And while we are at it, it is absolutely not the responsibility of a child care provider to facilitate family relationships. It is the responsibility of the parent. |
NP mom here. Nannies will NOT work amongst extended family in the house. Most will not work with parents in the house, unless they are getting paid way above average for the area. Who would want a grandparent in the house with them? Thats just creepy. I don't think moms realize this. Besides, if you have grandparents living in your house (FREE CHILDCARE), WHY ON EARTH DO YOU "NEED" PAID HELP????!!! YES, I AM YELLING. |
