I really think Lemon Road will be great. It won't be Haycock, but in many ways, that's good.

And some of the families are looking to move back into the Haycock district, although homes there go until contract very fast.

They wouldn't have to move directly into Haycock district. Any cluster 1 school would do.

I would guess families that are moving for this reason would not take that risk. They'll move where they are within haycock boundaries.

Just to clarify, the Lemon Road principal already said he won't mix the AAP students with general ed.

Poor Andy. He had such a nice school, and now the AAP parents are going to make his life miserable and destroy the sense of community at Lemon Road. And it's not even going to be much of a center anyway

PP has to be one of those miserable Haycock base parents.

No, former Lemon Road parent tired of hearing the newcomers whine about whether Lemon Road will meet their standards.

PP, if that's really how you feel, then you have no comprehension of the issues. People are not concerned about LR meeting their standards. The issue is that LR has not had an AAP program in the past. The concern would be with a new AAP program at any school, especially when the district has set it up to fail (i.e. putting LLIV at all of the feeder schools so the classes potentially aren't large enough to succeed). The concerns are not specific to LR. Most families I've talked to have had nothing but nice things to say about LR, the LR community and the principal.

I wonder if it were a new immersion program if people would be so nasty about the parents discussing whether it is set up in the optimal way to make it successful. I get it that people have their issues with AAP (and I have my own), but let's try to be understanding. This is a big shift for people and it means their children are being uprooted for a second time in tow or three years. I think it's fair for them to ask questions.

Very well stated. Thank you.

Hummmmm....the question of class size....class size it NOT at the top of my list for a quality program. It is the clustering of AA students that form a peer group for my child and the emotional and social support that is required.

I'd love to see Fairfax County send more AA students to LR and ensure a true Center.

I wonder if at the entire School Board understand the implications of their decision. I do not think this was the intention of the whole School Board.

Only requires 7 votes -- not "the whole of the School Board."

There simply aren't that many AA students in that area who test into the AAP program.
