Rave about your DCPS/charter school

How is that poster's statement factual? She was making an assumption based on her beliefs, without any evidence. Have YY' s breakdown of the DC-CAS been posted and everyone except that poster missed the results? I know, she has talked to all the teachers, and they have personally told her that all the AA students are failing miserably in math, English, and Mandarin.

Good Lord! We were at YY and nothing could be more factual. Evidence: a non-immersion 2nd track the whole city knows about, and every kid on it this past year AA. The pps who rave about YY don't tend to have kids in the upper grades. We're leaving for a private due to lack of rigor (in math and English, not Mandarin). Look at the break down of 2010 and 2011 test scores by race if you doubt that a large group of AA kids struggles. Or simply look at the location - Brookland is hardly Friendship Heights. There are AA kids who do well of course, but they tend to be high-SES. Some even have Chinese-speaking au pairs at home. No poster said ALL AA kids. Grow up.

Did you know that white students were also placed in the alternative track. The white students transferred out before the 2011-2012 school year began. They obviously had better options. People always talk about this year's track being all Black. Those parents obviously did not have better options.

I know that if my child was selected in that off-track group, he would have options. Thus, he would be out of there.

uhhhhh, echoing a previous post: Wasn't this supposed to be Rave about your current DCPS or Charter? I don't think the original poster meant "rave like a lunatic troll".....

" For your information, the top three students in the rising 5th grade are AA boys."

YY booster, you are so incredibly confused. This is laugh out loud funny and I have no doubt that you truly believe this. Sad, really.

Actually, the poster is telling the truth, but she does not have to prove anything to you!

when the detailed breakdown of DC-CAS comes out, we'll be able to see if the top scores are male, and are AA. So let's wait for the data.

Anyone who would use DC-CAS as a measure for who are the TOP students in a class truly is beyond help.

What is so funny? You don't believe an AA boy can be at the top of a class.

Since there are no class rankings in elementary school based on grades and test scores all declarations on this issue are moot.
And please....take it somewhere else. This is supposed to be a cheer for your school thread. There are plenty of other threads on which you can let your freak hang out

What does let your freak hang out mean?

Let me turn that around for you. In our charter the AA families only socialize with each other. Clearly they are racist and want to turn the school into an entirely AA community with no entitled high income families.

See how idiotic you sound?

So, you don't have any high income AA families at your charter. Which charter school is this?

What? I guessed you missed it but the point here is that post 1 assumed all white families at whatever this charter is are racist and high income. To illustrate how stupid this is, post #2 counters that all AA families must be racist and low income. The point is that NEITHER is true.

It means the ugly part of you inside responsible for your bitching, whining, complaining, and made-up-shit that you love to post on DCUM just to attack schools or people.

At Washington Latin they give awards for the kids in each grade with the highest GPA's each year. The student in fifth grade who won it this year was a hispanic girl
