Does anyone regret spending thousands of dollars on a wooden playset? I am about to spend $14,500.

Also I forgot to mention. I bought a set a few months ago from costco. It was the high wire by kids creations. The set was not the quality that I wanted. I had to return it to costco. You can actually read my review on it at costco.com I am the one who gave it three stars. After my experience with that set that was one reason I started looking at the highend playsets. I paid $5000 for that set and it was weak. I am leaning towars building a set with pressure treated lumber or maybe looking at cedarworks. I caan email pics of the exact set I was buying if I could figure how to upload pics but I cant figure it out. I do not have a link to the set. I would love to get suggestions.

I am not familiar with GA weather, but won't ot ne to hot for the kids to play outside on this thing in the summer? Especially inside the enclosed areas??

Also be prepared to stain it every year or too to protect the wood from rain and keep it looking nice.

My kids also lost interest in play structures at around 6 or 7 years old. They wanted to ride bikes, roller blade, pogo stick, etc. And as a PP mentioned, they get more interested in sports and want some room to throw or kick a ball.

I think you can get a very nice one for about 1/5 the price and you won't be kicking yourself as much if you don't like it or the kids don't use it as much as you think.

I havent read all of the responses so not sure if this was raised but you may want to check your homeowners insurance and see if you need to give them notice that you are getting a swing set . If another child gets injured on your property you dont want your insurance denying coverage on grounds you didn't tell them you installed a large swing set.

Are we sure that OP is not a play set manufacturer or rep planting some dings against his/her competitors in this thread? How can OP not know this is a DC based group? DC URBAN MOM.

Now that you say you are in GA, I think you are even more nuts to spend that kind of money in a place where the cost of living is so much cheaper than here in DC.

It was much simpler, but that gave us more space for imagination and growth. And because it was custom built, much nicer and sturdier than anything prepackaged.

dear God

Why not build a play McMansion next to it?

Not sure what you're getting at .... We lived in modest middle class houses, and the play structure was pretty unobtrusive. It was right on the property lines, so it wasnt huge.

sORRY i WAS JUST online looking for a place to ask for advice. I did not pay attention to were I was posting. I noticed others had posted questions about playsets. Only wanted advice. I have decided to just build myself becaues all of the big playset manufactures are way over priced.

The neighborhood cats will enjoy peeing in it. And yes great pot-smoking tower for teens!

When using pressure treated lumber be very careful about arsenic content...just sayin'...

I have also looked at Rainbow, Cedarworks, and playnation but like woodplay the best. The playset is huge with two seven foot decks, and another smaller set attached. It has a playhouse, crawl tunnel, bridge, spiral slide, 14 ft slide, 10 ft slide, and big spiral slide. I can afford the money but I am not rich. I am supposed to go pay a deposit today but I feel really bad about the price. I have five kids age ranges from 17 Months to nine years olds so I know I would get lots of use. I have been looking for about a year and this one has everything and is perfect for the kids of diffrent ages. It was a custome design so I can not find an exact one but one of the sets looks exactly l it looks as nice and similar to this

http://www.rainbowplay.com/index.php/swingsets/package/27b-original-king-kong-castle-supersized-package-v-grand-slam/

Then there is a bridge and crawl tunnel connecting it to another set that looks kind of like this

http://www.rainbowplay.com/index.php/swingsets/package/43a-original-king-kong-clubhouse-package-ii-with-dual-lower-level-playhouse/

The only diffrence is the second pic I will only have one 10" slide off the smaller deck and the playhouse is om the top bottoms are open. What I want to know is for those pf you that spend $8000 or more on a playset do you have any regrets? Do you feel you are getting your moneys worth out of it?
