you are insane to spend that much on a playset. even if you owned and ran a daycare, that is a crazy amount of money to spend on such a thing, especially when you don't even know for sure if your kids will like it/use it that much. |
Nope, never, not worth the risk. Look at ER visits and trampolines. |
weirdly i remember this topic from 4 years ago. |
+1 And the neighborhood kids. More kids to watch, on your property. Unless you don't mind that, of course. |
Dumb. Our $900 Costco set has lasted five years and still going strong. |
I wonder if we could get an update from four years ago on this. Did she buy it, and was it worth it? How much use has it gotten. |
she probably relocated two years after putting it in. |
I wouldn't spend that much. We got one off of Craigslist. A lot of labor by my husband and the neighbor but the kids use it every day. It's nice to have a background playset they can use.
Our is a wooden one, several years old but they seem to really hold up. $14,500 seems like a lot. Does it have electricity? ![]() |
Oh no! What happened to make you think that? We purchased a set from Triumph Play Systems last year - the Bailey play set climber - and it was one of the best buying experiences we had. The sales lady Jackie is one of the owners and walked me through all of the options until we found the right one for my kids. The kids really wanted monkey bars and the twisty slide too, but budget was an issue, so she told us we could add them on in a few years when the kids are older. Her and her husband installed the set for us too, and even helped plan to the space for our future things we hope to be able to add. My kids are on it every moment they can be. Definitely worth every penny! |
Just wait until you have to pay someone a thousand dollars to break it down and haul it away.
They're are under-utilized. |
We have one DS and I've been thinking about putting some kind of play structure in the backyard. Right now we walk to the nearby playground, he prefers that to playing in the backyard.
Instead of a traditional playset, I was thinking about buying a rock climbing wall and having someone build a tree house? Wondering though if they will get use. What do you think? |
Do it.
Its $2,900 per kid, which is high. But if the 17 month old plays with it / on it / around it for 10 years it will be worth it for sure. |
Haven't read all 8 pages, but will say that we don't regret buying our set, but we only paid, I think a thousand for one at Costco. We have 3 kids and its big enough. I guess I can see with 5 wanting something a bit bigger. The swings and trapeze bar get the most use. The slides are barely used, except in summer when they sometimes run the water down the slide. The clubhouse part gets some use. The Rockwall gets almost no use because it's not big enough to be really interesting.
I definitely think you should leave space in your yard for playing ball and running around. Also, I would spend less and focus in getting one with more swings and similar stuff, and less of the bells and whistles that look cool but don't really add much playtime. |
Ha! We just hauled ours off to the dump. We great until the kids were about 10-11. The last few years it's just been rotting in the yard. That area is now a patio.
Get a pool instead, they'll use it all summer long through high school. |
OP is a troll. |
