Pp here. I just saw the picture. Omg in my opinion that thing is ugly. My $1500 set is much nicer looking. That looks like a circus. I would never put that in my yard... |
Just looked at the pictures, OP. I'm 45 and I'd like to play on your playset!
In case you haven't thought of it, you may need to check with your local authorities to see if you need any special permit for something that tall. Also maybe feel out your neighbors for their thoughts if it might obscure their view, etc. |
Our four kids never play in our backyard...too buggy, and most kids prefer to play out front with neighbors or head to the park/playground. And I know a few families who had to pay big money to have their play sets dismantled and hauled off a handful of years after the novelty wore off and the sets began to show wear and tear. Having said that, if you have tons of cash, why not go for it? Personally, I would rather use that money on a few nice vacations. |
OP, good on you for tending to your childs needs. I see way too many big families with insufficient playthings for them. At least you are making the effort. As long as you are tending to your youngest and not "leaving them out there", why not? You know your kids and if they will use it - no one else does. |
Our kids love our custom set. Their friends love coming by to play on it.
|
why not do one or the other? |
Totally agree. I'd be looking on craislist or some such place for a nice used one! |
I would regret it every time I looked at it. It really is a monstrosity.
To the poster who says teenagers might like to rediscover it... It looks like it would be a good hangout/encouragement for smoking weed. The stoners in my high school loved these kind of things. |
I haven't read all of these posts but all I can say is.... $14,500 for a PLAYSET?
Yes, I would regret it every day that I had to look at it for the next 10 years. Tell your kids to go to the park. |
Dear God, OP
I hope you live on at least 3 acres. If that monstrosity were next to me, it would dwarf my house and decrease value!
|
+1 Wondering if that thing is going to look ridiculous in your yard? I have seen similar sized ones in neighborhood HOA open spaces. |
OMFG...who buys this shit?
too big too expensive NOT enough ROI for me to buy that. |
We bought a decent-sized one at Lowe's for about $1200 and assembled ourselves. I can't fathom spending $14k, especially when you don't consider yourself "rich". |
Only if you don't care that people will judge you. Specifically, they will think you spoil your kids and you have no control over your spending. This is doubly true if you live in a neighborhood where people aren't obviously rich, and you aren't either. On the other hand, if you think monster SUVs show good taste, then obviously you don't care what others think, so go for it.
Buy a middle-sized $2-5K set and put the rest of the money towards college. |
I don't think people will judge. She's got five kids. Five kids who will use it. If she had just one, that would be different. |
