I'm surprised you're proud of living on 45K. My secretary makes 66K and she can certainly manage her parenting duties even while working 40 hours a week. Do you live in the DC metro area, or someplace much cheaper?
It's not that I'm proud of my income. I'm just not ashamed or unhappy with my choice, which is what you seem to expect. I have no desire to apologize to you, the random internet stranger, for my choices in life. My original post was to point out that some of the assumptions about us lower income folks can be flat out wrong.
