Does Beauvoir Adequately Prepare Students Academically for St. Albans / NCS?

1. Beauvoir does not adequately prepare students for the fourth grade at ncs and sta

2. No! Beauvoir is magical and teaches critical thinking, we don't need to focus on academics at such an early age!

3. Forces third graders to take a bunch of admissions tests that focus on....you guessed it, academics.

4. Third grade academically is so demanding!!! Let's see....reading and writing at a 3rd grade level, multiplication and division? Wow!

It would also be nice if someone made sure that while the BVR kids were catching up, they did not slow down the other kids who are able to move forward more quickly.

Wow you are really mean. And off base. Did you not see the previous post by the former NCS/STA teacher? Where is all this hate coming from for Beauvoir kids- key word being KIDS. I asked a family member who went to STA but not Beauvoir his experience with the Beauvoir kids from his class and he said they were smart nice kids. Many of them his closest friends. As a Beauvoir parent I've found this to be the case too. There are some really sad people out there with a serious axe to grind against all things Beauvoir related. Move on and get help. And one last thing, judging from the STA college outplacement it appears that the majority of boys (Beauvoir and otherwise) have done just fine, even the precious little darlings who were slowed down by those Beauvoir kids. Imagine that. This thread is absurd!

Sorry. Not to being mean. And your anecdote vs mine and others of the last few years. I thought my kid with the lack of a magical background would be at risk but the opposite was true. No one said the kids were bad kids - heck they are smart from good families - but this is 100% NOT about them. It's about the adults who may not be preparing them or coordinating enough to make it work on an optimal basis. But good try, make it about the kids when they are the ones who are not getting what they deserve. Both the BVR kids AND the kids who are placed in class with some of them who are not well prepared.

If that's the case how do you explain the widespread great color placement of bvr and non bvr kids? Assuming that the kids were not initially prepared seems like in the long run it may no difference whatsoever

The BVR admin sacking speaks for itself.

Does anyone have any insights to share? Also, I'd like to know where these academic powerhouses from STA/NCS come from if not BVR?

Yes. I recommend people stop driving their children to anxiety medication. If they are doing fine, they do not need tutoring. And maybe if they do need tutoring you've got them in a school that is not a good fit. Read books and try to get your kids to read books and otherwise let them learn and grow in school. That's my recommendation.

Most of top students come from Beauvoir. Have kids at both NCS and STA.

Top students are mostly from Beauvoir whether you like it or not that's just the truth. However the rest are from all different schools. There isnt one school that you could say they come from. One of the math geniuses in my sons class comes from a public in Virginia. He's off the charts a brilliant mathematician.

Aren't a majority of the kids at STA and NCS from Beauvoir to begin with? Seems highly unlikely they would all be at the bottom of the class.

32/3. 12/6. fifty percent non bvr got awards. 3 of 32 bvr kids did.

Your numbers don't make any sense. It's pathetic to spend so much time trying to parse out and examine BVR kids in your son's class. Get a life, your obsession is unhealthy and down right stalkerish. Gheesh BVR is great school for many reasons if you don't like it don't send your kids there. Many STA faculty seem to think BVR is a great school too since they send their kids there. There are so many great schools no need to demean one school are its student body.

Was this for C form year-end awards or for a higher grade?

This. How sad is your life if you spend that much time crunching the numbers to denigrate other children and an elementary school? Find a hobby.
