Not arguing, just offering my opinion, as someone who rarely wears makeup: when I wear makeup I feel like I'm pretending to be someone I'm not. I'm not saying that everyone who wears make-up is pretending to be someone they're not, it's just how I feel about myself. I don't feel like I need to be "polished". I'm fine the way I am, even if I don't look like other people. I definitely think other women are free to wear all the makeup they want. I know other women enjoy wearing it and that is fine.

Do you work in a corporate environment, or not?

NP here. Also not a make up wearer. I work in a corporate environment. Masters degree. Successful.
Sometimes I wear make up. Not very often. And when i do put it on (like for date night) my husband looks at me sadly and tells me he likes me better without it.
Honestly, I only care what he thinks. And he loves my natural granola self, not the made up make up wearing woman that I am not, and will never be.

Do many women in your corporate workplace forgo makeup?

I'm in a male dominated workplace. There's 4 other women. I'm the only one who does not wear make up. I have not been told to wear any. On the other hand, the Latina with naturally very curly hair was told she needed to straighten it to look more professional, so obviously my office does not have a problem correcting appearance.

And then I don't have to either wipe your pee off, or hoover, or inadvertantly sit in your pee (which is what just happened a few minutes ago).

Or worse. The women who leave blood on the seat. I don't understand why some women are incapable of cleaning up after their mess.

Two things. 1- you must be thinking of white women and 2- even some white women look "polished" without makeup.

Ok and another thing- that's sad and I hope you aren't involved in hiring at your job.

What does that mean?

PP has already started a spin-off thread, because she's making mountains out of mole hills.

I don't feel like dong a spin off.

I will, however, address this racist comment.

Not you, the other PP. The "white women" PP.
So white women look bad w/o make up? This is why people will never see eye-to-eye.

I work in a law firm and the vast majority of lawyers at my firm don't wear make up. I think it would look strange to come in all made up - like you have too much time on your hands and are trying to impress someone with your looks (rather than job performance).

17:27 - agree. This aint Texas.

Tory Burch ballet flats with the huge logos on them. Actually, anything with huge logos. . .

I think people have different ideas of what make up means. I wear very light foundation, a little bit of blush in the winter, and light eyeliner. I do put on some neutral lipstick in the morning. The lipstick is gone by the time I pull into my parking spot from drinking coffee out of my travel mug. My eyeliner seems to disappear by mid day, it doesn't smear so I'm not sure what happened to it. You can't really tell that I am earing foundation but if I don't have it on someone will ask if I'm tired. So...I wear make up but if you are a make up person who touches up throughout the day, you would think that I'm not wearing it.

Tory Burch anything. It is SO ugly.
Ruffles, they do not look good on anyone.
Twitter, signed up, people joined to follow me, I couldn't think of anything I needed to tell them.
Facebook, signed up, received tons of friend requests from people in high school I had not time or desire to reconnect with at all, opened an annoying avenue for my MIL, shut off the account.

I have noticed a difference between makeup-less white women (and other women with pale skin) and darker races of women without makeup.

The latter group looks better without makeup.

People who make blanket statements about fashions that don't look good on them, wishing they would not look good on anyone else.

Most older white women look horrible without make up.

How old is 'older', PP? 30? 45? 55?

Just curious.
Anonymous
Older to me is mid to late 40's.

Speaking of age; DCUM is the only place I've seen people say mid 20's isn't young.
Anonymous
Incompetent people who can get and keep their jobs and get raises and promotions.
