We told him we wanted to see how his brain worked. He loves science so that explaination was great for him. He thought the test was alot of fun. |
I agree with the two posters above. It is important to keep your child relaxed and think of a way for them to take the test without really knowing why they are taking it.If you can do this the child will be more open to what is going on. My ds thought the test was fun as well. |
How long is the whole test taking process for the child?Do they get to take a break or eat a snack? |
Curious at your school are the kids who are in the AAP program talking about it?Does your child know they were not accepted? |
My DD has no idea she was in the second grade pool, was denied, or is appealing with good WISC scores. Her best friend got in and has been bragging about her own acceptance to AAP and told my DD she must not be smart enough to get in. Trying to keep it together. |
My DD has a GBRS of 12 and her WISC Scores are as following
VCI 128 POI 106 WMI 120 PSI 112 Full Scale 121 Percentile 92. How are these scores looking? Are these good for Appealing? Thank you for any response. |
OHHHHHHHH that is awful I am so sorry. We are also appealing for our dd as well. I wish you the best of luck with your appeal. |
I sincerely hope, 18:01, that your post is not in response to 16:32. High test scores are one thing, but your post illustrates that you can't teach common sense.
Best wishes to 16:32 and all the families that are going through this process. |
Hi, I am so sorry I had just read the post about the girl whose friend was making fun of her and that is what I was refering too. I honestly was so upset I did not read the next post. To the person who was next I am very sorry I did not mean to make you feel your scores were not good. They look good to me. |
Yeah - the post about the best friend telling the DD she's not smart is pretty awful, and also a good example of someone with (presumably) high test scores lacking in common sense!
16:23, here's hoping your DD finds a new best friend... |
Please be kind and remember that this thread is for parents whose children are taking the WISC teat and would like to discuss itheir feelings or concerns about it. If you would like to comment on the pros and cons of testing why not start a new thread of your own. |
What I meant was, the "best friend" is the one lacking in common sense, not the DD. I can't imagine how a friend could do that to another friend. If I had to choose between my own DD being very "smart" or being a sincere friend, I'd choose the latter.
We are rooting for DD - best of luck to you!! |
16:23 here -- Thanks for the support, posters, and good luck to 16:32, the 129 in VCI is good. I heard that is the subtest that they value most! |
@ 19:23 -- I don't think anyone here is being anything but supportive. I think just a couple of misunderstandings along the way.
@19:48 -- I agree with you. |
I am just so ready to have this whole process over with. I am so tired of thiinking about it. We have done the WISC,written our appeal letter and now the waiting game begins again. UGH |
