Any one take the WiSC recently for the AAP appeals process?
Care to post scores? |
VCI 130, PRI 131, WMI 117, PSI 106. Thoughts? GBRS is 12 and NNAT is 130 (psychologist said the CogAT scores would "drop out" on appeal in favor of WISC). |
what is the fsiq? |
FSIQ 129. GAI 136. What think you? |
PP: my guess is you will make it. |
thank you. i'm pretty disgusted with the whole process, and will be glad when it's over, one way or the other. |
18:19- my AART said the same, that the WISC is highly regarded since it is an individual test. |
Have you gotten the WISC results for your DC? Care to share? Thanks! |
Here are scores for 3rd grader and what are the chances to getting into GT next year.
Verbal Comprehension --138 Perpetual Organization --123 Working Memory --120 Processing Speed --118 Full Scale -- 132 -- Very Superior Also our DS has taken woodcock-Johnson III and the scores are as follows...(Grading Equivalent) Letter-Word Identification --8.5 Reading Fluency --7.6 Calculation--8.0 Math Fluency --6.5 Passage Comprehension --5.1 Applied Problems - 9.4 |
Looks good. The high VCI should carry you in (that is the score the committee values most highly, I've heard). |
My DD got in on appeal last year with near identical scores - VCI 136 125 PMI, other scores the same. A low GBRS was certainly the reason for denial. She is doing great at the center. Good Luck! |
Thanks! That helps. Please share your thoughts samples (how many ?) and recommendations and What kind of sample you have used when appealed? |
Simply sent WISC and cover letter questioning her GBRS of 8. I pointed out a few contradictions in teacher's comments and rating. I thought I had put together a strong package initially with letters of recommendations, work samples, art work and strong scores on NNAT and Cogat. Good Luck! |
Thanks! A lot. Your input is really helpful. our DS got GBRS 8 but it completely contradicts teacher comments - All the comments are very very positive and zero negative comments but still GBRS is 8. We will write a cover letter too as per your input. |
Try not to say anything negative in your letter, just give strong examples of behavior for each categoryin the GBRS. Our child's phychologist actually advised us, quite emphatically, NOT to write any letter addressing the GBRS, because (in his view) it just draws attention to it. Who knows . . . we are in a different situation because the GBRS is 12, not really low, although one category was low. |
