Book list - have you read six of these?

70 or so. But I'm sure I read at least 20 of them for middle and high school.

I read James Joyce in 10th grade for my English class.

Er... I'm a little unclear on how that could happen. Ok, so if you were educated in a non-English-speaking country, that accounts for a lot of it. But do you just not read for pleasure at all?

So many were posting how many they had read but I was kidding. I do, however, know English speaking people who have not read any of those books. They just aren't interested; not a comment on their intelligence.

Many were required reading for high school. How did they pass?

But was it Ulysses? I'd guess Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, which is quite a different work. I don't know anyone who would teach Ulysses to sophomores.

61, including some of the "high" and "low" works.

42. I only counted the ones I have read in their entirety. It's a weird list; I don't get the duplicates.

Read 42, read about 5 partially and didn't like them, own about 5 more that I haven't read yet.

I've read 37 and I read a lot so some of you really read a lot.

37 - some I've tried to read but lost interest. Others I own but haven't read yet. It is a strange list.

I had to read Ulysses in 10th grade. Public school in CT. I also took an awesome class on Gothic Lit which is where I read the Bronte sisters and another class that covered Orwell and Huxley. I'd say of the ones I've read on the list, probably half are from high school.

52 in entirety, probably about 10-20 more in part. Interesting list of high and low.

What about Canterbury Tales? We were required ("allowed" - strict religious school) to read the Miller's Tale. I think the teacher would have been in trouble if the admin knew the weird stuff he talked about in class - he was a "troubled soul" and was often "prayed for."
