Book list - have you read six of these?

It's an odd assortment of books.

49. (Thank you, excellent boarding school education!) And yes, some of them are so random - The Five People You Meet in Heaven? The DaVinci Code? Not really on a par with the others.

Most people that were on a college prep track read these books in High School.

36. But some of them I know I read, but I can't remember the details at all.

31. One of those books nearly killed my joy for reading. I was an avid reader until I came across that monster in 10th grade -- I didn't pick up another book for pleasure until I was 23.

OP again. Glad you all are confirming that six is a crazy low number for that list!

I agree, the list is weird. It has the complete works of Shakespeare, but also Hamlet by itself (which is a play, not a book). It has the Chronicles of Narnia (that's what, five or six books?) but then the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by itself.

I should go looking for more info and see how they came up with this list. Smells like committee work... How else do you explain the putting the DaVinci Code on the same list as Possession?

Let me guess... Ulysses?

I think you're going to get higher than average numbers from the DCUM crowd than the national average. But it reminds me that I have a few more books to read (that I already own anyway!)

48 here. Very surprised by the number of Oprah's Club books on this list. Yuck. And the number of relatively 'young reader' works, like Charlotte's Web, etc. I think I must have hit 6 by 8th grade.

Hey, I was going to post this same response! I read "Portrait of the Artist" by James Joyce in high school. Not tempted by Ulysses.

I've read 28 of them, but a couple of them twice. Never got into Harry Potter.

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised they have Midnight's Children versus the Satanic Verses.
