I'm so sorry everyone. I meant to write PP not OP. I derailed the thread. |
| Getting names and experience of such companies on resume pays off later. It’s no different than getting low pay clerkship with Supreme Court justices instead of going for higher pay at mediocre law firms. |
No need to apologize, it’s just another standard day here ; ) |
Still it’s off topic |
You’re definitely not the OP. I am the OP! DH and I are white / Caucasian, BTW, and we live in the DMV area – he works remotely for SpaceX with a focus on Gov Affairs. DH started at a pretty entry level in 2021 in BD and USG account management and spent 2-3 years as a grinder before moving up in the ranks. His most recent equity refresh was a couple of months ago and was for 60,000 shares, none of which has vested yet. People keep referencing these silly articles about the hundreds of employees that are worth $100M+ and the 4400+ that are millionaires, but this is mostly unvalidated speculation and includes unvested equity. Truth is that a bunch of employees sold their shares internally or timed out on stock options. Those with RSUs still need to be vested and are outside the lockout period to sell. Anyway, by DCUM accounting rules, I guess we should include everything that has been granted, so today those SPCX shares are valued at $45M. Not bad considering we’re only in our mid 30s. |
| Op I would stop sharing such detailed and identifying info |
love how OP says they are vested but ignores the fact that "husband" can't sell them right now. Girly, don't count your chickens because they are not hatched. If some have hatched, sell those now. But since they are not yours, they are "husband's" becha can't. |
OMG doesn’t your DH have clearance? Delete this post maybe whole thread ASAP. |
She may as well just post his name at this point. |
| Lobbyist makes gobs of money. News at 11. |
Congrats. If I were doing the accounting, I’d probably assume a fair market value of more like 60/share to determine a more or less assured number, and then everything after it is gravy and would sell as they vest. It’s a nice product company operating a historic retail investor scam. |
He’s not a lobbyist, she’s using gov affairs incorrectly. Source - Am also big tech lobbyist and know the entire SpaceX lobbying team very well (the ones that are registered as formal lobbyists). Nobody fits the parameters she shared. The 60,000 shares stock grant doesn’t make any sense either based on the 3 months ago timing + valuation at that point, but whatever. There’s less than 100 SpaceX employees in the entire DC area. OP might as well walk around with a sign on her that says I’m worth tens of millions at this rate. |

SpaceX is made of 3 businesses, and 1 does well (Starlink) and I think has a good future. The second (space for hire, like to NASA) does pretty well and also they have shown this has really good potential. The bulk of their losses are from the AI/X (Twitter) portion, mostly because AI takes huge resources and capital costs. I think they should split it off if it's not working out. The other businesses are decent. THat's why I dont' thikn the stock will nosedive once the lock-up period is over. For example, who's going to compete wtih Starlink? They have thousands of satellites up already.
As for those who became very wealthy, they generally worked hard, and also chose to take options in lieu of a higher salary. The IPO was not guaranteed.. it was talked about for years. More power to them. |
I think your analysis of what's decent/is not decent is good. But you can't argue the stock price on fundamentals. It has nothing to do with fundamentals. It's all Elon hype. It might not nosedive after the lock-up but that's because Elon is pretty darn good at hyping his businesses and because there's a segment of the markets now (btc, spcx, etc) that is divorced from fundamentals. If you want to value and trade Apple, you look at the fundamentals. If you want to value and trade a Musk company, you look at how well he's hyping it up and how much people are taking it in. Then you take a bite and get the heck out. The trillion dollar revenue by 2030 was a nice touch. |
