Weird when a salary that's "middle class" everywhere else on DCUM is suddenly "rich" when you're talking about a Black woman, isn't it?

McDuffie supporters are really trashy.

Something here doesn't add up. She's buying a $1.2 million home. The current 30 year interest rate is about 6.5 percent. If she put down $120,000 as a downpayment that's still an $8,000 per month mortgage payment. She's only 38 years old so she hasn't worked very long and the only jobs she's had are with the government.

NP. Does it matter how nice it is if she is railing against people having single family homes?

I just love the hypocrisy on the left - and watching liberals defend it, over and over.

Can one buy a house that isn’t $1M in DC?

Umm yes. We just paid $680k for a home just down the street from JLG. There are several others as well.

She has a husband. They aren't middle class.

What does here husband do? ChatGPT and Claude both say there is no public information about what husband Kyle does for a living. Curious.

Many must you cook up a conspiracy theory? Take your meds.

Her husband is probably unemployed. Who lists no job on their LinkedIn? Which again raises the question of how JLG can afford this on her salary.

I would scrub my online presence if my husband ran for office because the world is filled with weirdos. I'm not voting for JLG but the idea that she must be doing something illegal for her and her husband to be able to afford a decent but not lavish home at this point in her life is pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, team McDuffie here is getting even weirded the more scared they get. Even the veneer of reasonableness is gone.

It will take a long time for them to catch up to the Team JLG poster in the other thread who said that people voting for anyone but JLG wanted "to see a black woman whipped", but I agree that it will be good to put this primary in the rearview.

The "best" posts from team McDuffie have been deleted by the moderator. There are some truly gross people who post on here.

there's literally no hypocrisy here. JLG is not saying we shouldn't allow people to own single family homes nor is she running on banning single family homes. She is not even saying we should ban single family home zoning, she is simply saying we should change the current single family home zoning so it does ban everything except single family homes.

Even if JLG gets everything she is running on you will still be allowed to buy a single family home. you will still be allowed to build a single family home. The only thing that will change is that if you own property that is currently zoned for single family homes only, you will be allowed to build other types of buildings on it.

This is really not that difficult a concept to understand. It's so simple, in fact, that if you're trying to push the narrative that single family homes will not be allowed under JLG, there are really only two possibilities. One is that you know you're pushing a false narrative and are actively spreading false propaganda. The other is that you're so incredibly stupid you are unintentionally spreading false propaganda because you are too dumb and lazy to spend 2 seconds finding the truth before spewing your false and idiotic verbal diarrhea online. So which one are you, an intentional liar or an absolute moron?

I’ve wondered this again and again about various (or maybe the same) posters on this forum. I’ve never come to a firm conclusion, although there is one person who often comments on bike / transportation issues who seems to suffer from dementia given their constant repetition of debunked nonsense.

I didn’t vote for JLG, but this line of argument seems silly. Buying a house in a residential zone doesn’t mean you’re endorsing that zoning as a concept. And it’s not hypocritical to live in a SFH but want it to be possible for there to be other housing nearby. I live in a SFH but refuse to sign the many petitions my neighbors are circulating that would prevent apartments from being built on my block, because I’m fine with apartments being built on my block.

Her platform isn’t calling to ban single family housing, it’s calling to ban zoning that ONLY allows single family housing.

DP. Speaking of absolute morons... no one is saying that single family homes won't be allowed if JLG wins. Not even sure where you got that strawman, but bravo - it's a doozy. Your entire post is a beautiful example of the gaslighting we've all come to expect from the left.

People are (rightfully) angry because JLG said in her Op-Ed:
“Exclusionary zoning preserves segregation and exacerbates displacement.” She then to buy her home in a neighborhood that - wait for it - is single-family zoned. She could easily have bought a place in a mixed-use / non-exclusionary zoned area so as to, you know, walk the walk, but she chose not to. It is indeed a very simple concept that you seem determined to spin into something completely false all the while pretending what she's being called out on is "propaganda."

She's a hypocrite and you are too. News at 11.

Yes, we know. There would be no issue whatsoever with her living wherever she wanted to if she hadn't made her entire campaign about single-family zoned neighborhoods being a tool of "segregation." Get it?

Please ask ChatGPT to explain like you have the IQ of a 5-year-old.

Humans apparently aren't talented enough to translate from English to stupid.

Here are the facts put simply:

The Price: A $1 million house in DC is not a rich person's mansion. That is just the normal price for a basic house in the city.

The Location: The paper says it is "near the White House" to make it sound fancy. Five miles away is the outer edge of the city. It is a regular neighborhood.

The Rules: Being against "single-family zoning" does not mean being against houses. It means thinking the government should stop blocking people from building townhouses or duplexes on their own land. Buying a house does not mean supporting the government ban on other types of homes
