Middlebury was certainly a hike to get to and, tbh, we found the remoteness, stark campus a bit depressing and that was summer....

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We found Middlebury to be the most beautiful campus we toured during our New England circuit.

Absolutely no landscaping and Grey stone buildings just plopped around, ugly library and science building. Cafeteria was OK, but it left a lot to be desired.

I have been there 2x, I disagree completely.

Huh? I'll give you gray buildings, but no landscaping and ugly buildings?

Someone hasn't been there.

I really like Middlebury but their comment is accurate if you don’t. It’s paved but it’s not manicured. The buildings are grey…

Paved? Have ever actually been there? Middlebury's campus is wide expanses of manicured lawn.

There are students who do not have the scores for Williams who want to attend a LAC. In the DC metro area, students in the bottom 2/3rds of the class typically attend state schools but it is good for there to be SLAC options for these students. Many of these schools offer merit or other types of discounts so the cost could be comparable to going out of state.

HWS and SLU are both excellent schools. There many excellent SLACs in upstate NY (and PA) for kids who fall outside of the range for the top NESCAC and other elite NE SLACs. The more exposure that people have to them the better off their kids will be.
