Watch your back!! The Dufief sanctimommies are going to get you!! One morning you will wake up and hundreds (oh, wait, there aren’t 100s of them to begin with!) - 10’s of them will be on your lawn with shiny new signs!!! |
Not a DuFief parent but I don't think this is true. Given DuFief will now be in the same district as Fields Road and Fields Road is overcrowded, some of the current Fields Road could easily be moved into DuFief. Washingtonian Woods is already closer to DuFief than FRES anyhow. If space is freed up at FRES by moving Washingtonian to DuFief, then MCPS can move the Downtown Crown neighborhood to FRES and eliminate Rosemont island #8, which, given their general targeting of islands in recent study options, seems like a likely move for them. |
If Washingtonian Woods gets moved to Dufief, wouldn't Fields Road be made up of almost entirely townhomes, condos and apartments? There might be like one or two tiny subdivisions. Like that neighborhood right behind Muddy Branch Shopping center, with the Giant, that you have to access through Great Seneca Highway. And the area between Fields Road ES and 370. |
| Move Dufief to a QO cluster es for shits & giggles |
That would actually be funny. Considering Dufief is the only community supporting the super’s recommendation, it would be rather hilarious if Wootton gets sent to Crown, then everyone goes except for Dufief which is closed and sent to QO. |
The currently proposed ES boundary study would not be changing any HS boundaries. |
No it wouldn’t but how funny would it be such that Dufief ceases to exist and gets sent to Jones Lane or Rachel Carson, which all go to QO. No HS boundaries need to change! |
OK, but that's not how it would work. If an elementary school were to cease to exist, its students would be reassigned to another elementary school, but they would remain assigned to whichever HS they're assigned to at the conclusion of this current study. |
Don’t worry as soon as Option H passes, they will begin the rezoning of Wootton Parkway ES to RMHS to truly make it a Rockville contiguous school just as you all have been desperately advocating for. |
Yes, that would change high school boundaries. The idea is that if your house is drawn as assigned to a certain high school, it doesn't change in the ES boundary study. Only which ES you're sent to would potentially change (and possibly select middle schools if any are closed and they then need to redraw middle school boundaries to account for that.) |
I would love that actually. Especially with the new regional program, RM will be one of the few schools with IB experience and staff to actually properly execute. Why delay the inevitable? Sooner or later the Wootton Parkway communities would be pushed out of Crown. Jokes on Dufief. They think H keeps the cluster together. It won’t in the long run. Maybe in 3 years, maybe in 5, but Crown will be inevitably a Gaithersburg school and region 5 not 4 with the other Gaithersburg schools, and it will not keep the Wootton name. |
| Can’t wait to get rid of Dufief! |
You bitter Bettys just crack me up! Enjoy your bus ride to Wootton at Crown 😁 |
| Hopefully the fear mongerers listened to the working sesh today & see that there will be a decline in enrollment bc of the HS bubble. Not a spike. Even if there was a spike it could be absorbed or 500 added to Crown. They’re not moving Wootton feeders out. |
Yea because mcps is great at estimating and projecting. Just see how Woodward has worked out. Opened in 1966, closed in 1987, then holding school in the 90s, then housed for Northwood, then reopened??? |
