Not sure what's vague about saying i'm a parent of one of the 4th graders who ran from fallsmead with her teacher. I have talked with my child, talked to other parents who talked to their children, and talked to the parents who sheltered the children. There were factual statements in the email from the principal and there were inaccuracies based on the accounts of the adults who sheltered children in their home, and another in her SUV. The issue at hand is that the principal and assistant principal failed to alert parents that their children had left campus during a lockdown. And when she did call 24 hours later, defended her actions and placed blame on other parties. |
Defended what actions? Who did she blame? What did she say they did wrong? |
My god. I am so sorry. Im a Lakewood parent. Just imaging getting a call from another community member that my kid was somewhere in the community while there was a school shooter at large…that would scared me to my core. Mistakes are made in moments of crisis, but to double down and not look for way to improve…how is any of this ok? Btw, Lakewood principal is stating firm that CEO officer wasn’t at our school. Im hearing he wasn’t on camera footage at our school at time of incident… |

The concern comes from the fact that the children were more exposed to the shooter by leaving the school. |

PP here—aka the Lakewood parent. Right? Yea I was scared shitless all of Monday as my Lakewood kid hid in her school. I would’ve been far more scared shitless if I didn’t know where she was and that she was somewhere in the community. I knew the shooter fled Wootton. Texts messages from parents with kids at Lakewood said shooter ran away from Wootton.
Fallsmead is even closer than Lakewood to Wootton. So yes, I would have been way more scared if I knew my kid had ran out somewhere into the community. |
Dude running into the community while the shooter was at large in the community is literally going from further to closer to the shooter. There was no shooter at Fallsmead. The shooter went from Wootton to running into the Fallsmead neighborhood where he the hid his gun in his backyard. The kids literally ran towards danger…and the principal is doubling down??? |
The fastest way of getting to Chantilly Court on foot from Wootton ia running through the townhouse community on Paulsboro into Woottons Mill park and out of the park onto Aintree. Its doubtful he ran down Greenplace Terr or through Fallsmead neighborhood. |
That's THE MCPS "lawyer" |
Yea the kids are lucky they didn’t run right into the pathway of the shooter but if MCPS is doubling down instead of examining what went wrong and how can we make sure we do better…what about the next time? What if, the next time there is a shooter at large and the kids are not accounted for? |
That’s my same thought. They are doubling down due to lawyers. Why do you think the principal responded 24 hours later? I’m willing to bet anything that she had to clear whatever she was going to say by MCPS lawyers first. |
Meaning after someone posted here? Repeat, ... |
MCPS defender back at it with their questions. "Placed blame on other parties" seems to be a reoccurring pattern. Read snow day threads & cleanup efforts days, coordinating with other parties to cleanup, and several others. Don't try to defend it there are parents on here who have been with the systems for decades. |
Exactly. Why is that one or handful number of posters always so quick to double down in so many of the mcps related threads? |
I don't get it- why the obfuscation here? Why not say what the principal said and describe what was wrong? |
