MCPS seeking waiver yet again!!!

Easter Monday is a day of rest and reflection and meditation for some of us. After the entire weekend of activities, visits, extended family gatherings ...we need that nuclear family time to recover. I hope MCPS respects this Holliday like they do Lunar New Year and Eid.

Yeah, no, no one else gets a random extra day off after their holiday to recover, and you shouldn't either. That's the kind of thing you need to keep your kid home from school for if it's really that important to you, not that the rest of us should be asked to accommodate.

Are you trolling? McPS just cancelled the Eid non instructional day as it was a designated makeup day when McPS uses the 1 snow day it incorporated into the calendar. It is now a school day (which sucks for Muslims who observe, but is better than last year’s fiasco of the three half days in June being added where students were encouraged not to attend.)

Easter Monday wasn’t a designated makeup day so it wasn’t cancelled. Next year more holidays should be designated makeup days not just Eid and random days in June.

You keep your kids home and let the rest of ours get an education.

It's giving "on a secondment from the nunnery to be a governess to a widowed Austrian Naval Captain's seven children."

Hearing vote taking place today on makeup days. Most like will go to 1/2 days through June 25...... (no school on Juneteenth or election day in June). March 20 becomes a non-instruction day again.

Oh you're right, it is on the agenda today. But of course, despite the fact that MCPS is supposed to post all presentations and documents 4 days in advance, there are still no materials up.

Yes, got a memo to expect the above.... I work in HS so I'm sure VERY few, if any kids will show up.... especially having 2 days off during that stretch of half days. Most of my students work full time during the summer.

What the hell is the point of designating in-year makeup days if they're just going to pull this crap?

Unfortunately they snuck that agenda item in and have their meetings during people's work days.
