Mark Carney's Davos Speech

I read a post on Bluesky suggesting that after being uninvited, Carney needs to announce that he’s starting the Biggest & Best Nobel Board of Peace that costs $1 trillion to join. The toddler/pedophile would have a fit.

How about the US becomes Canada's 11 Province!

I think there are quite a few blue states that would prefer to be part of Canada right now. All the economically viable states in fact.

Which ones (hypothetically): Maine, California, NY, Washington?

That order destroyed itself, and it has nothing to do with Greenland, NATO, EU, or Trump.

The mass immigration combined with not having enough kids to sustain itself, means Europe will be fundamentally different in a few decades.

National health care, much less gun violence, cleaner air, generous parental leave-I think even some red states might be tempted.

And a sane, intelligent leader. Sounds good to me!

Michigan gets a lot of benefits from Canada's single payer health care system, that it would lose if they joined Canada.

A year ago, the US and Canada were close allies, peaceful, big trading partners, culturally close and so on. And now after one year of Republican rule, the relationship is in tatters. The air is filled with talk of war, boycotts, tariffs, and the need for new alliances.

It is shocking how much destruction Republicans have inflicted in such a short time. Everything has changed. The western world now sees the US as an enemy to be feared - like Russia. And there's no going back. The entire post-WW II security and trading system has been shattered. It's a very new world.

Canada would be better off as a territory at least Alberta would gladly come to the United States as Canada is a trash country right now

You know, actually Trump wouldn't be a problem, problem is MAGA like you, have you fell asleep listening the speech, or you just never bother.

really? all those Iraqis, Syrians decided that it was better to chance drowning in the med than living somewhere other than europe b/c they just love Strasbourg SO So So much??? it had nothing to do with continued US and UK violence and interference in their ability to govern themselves in a way that allowed them to extract value from their own economies instead of funneling it to France, UK and the US?? if you are conservative why dont you acquaint yourself with the most successful conservative European leader right now- Ms. Melloni- and her take on the "powers that be" and migration. the USA made the mess that threatens Europe. We basically undid what Charles teh Hammer did n tours by trying to take Baghdad.

It's an interesting question. If you were to put up a referendum - Trump's America or Carney's Canada - I suspect a lot of states would choose Canada today. Most of New England plus New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, and California. I'd guess those states are responsible for roughly 70 percent of America's GDP.

We only have two parties in the US. And the Republican Party has gone full berserk. Looking towards the future, these Republican nutcases will be in power every 4-8 years. The destruction they are unleashing is incredible. I feel very confident we are going to have a major financial crisis in the next couple of years. Meanwhile, up to the North, Canada has chosen very sane and decent leadership. If free to choose today, I'd imagine nearly everyone in the US with an IQ above room temperature would prefer to be part of Canada rather the shitshow that is America under Republican rule.

It was like a geopolitical version of a Mafia shakedown. “You can say yes and we will be very appreciative, or you can say no and we will remember.” That was Trump’s message to Denmark on the subject of ceding Greenland. It was like watching a scene from “The Sopranos.”

You give Trump way too much credit.

Tony was way smarter than Trump!

This! Trump was a total and complete disaster and embarrassment for the USA. Cringe inducing.

Those benefits don't seem to outweigh the chaos of MAGA
