What an important speech for countries of the world being bullied by the US. Here is an excerpt:
"In 1978, the Czech dissident Václav Havel, later president, wrote an essay called “The Power of the Powerless,” and in it he asked a simple question: how did the communist system sustain itself? And his answer began with a greengrocer. Every morning, the shopkeeper places a sign in his window: “Workers of the world unite.” He doesn’t believe in it. No one does. But he places the sign anyway to avoid trouble, to signal compliance, to get along. And because every shopkeeper on every street does the same, the system persists — not through violence alone, but through the participation of ordinary people in rituals they privately know to be false. Havel called this living within a lie. The system’s power comes not from its truth, but from everyone’s willingness to perform as if it were true. And its fragility comes from the same source. When even one person stops performing, when the greengrocer removes his sign, the illusion begins to crack. Friends, it is time for companies and countries to take their signs down." |

Canada has a leader it can be proud of. That speech was a rallying cry for smaller countries to form strategic alliances to avoid being subjugated to "great powers acting in their own interest" (i.e. USA, China).

It’s interesting that I’ve heard the word “appeasement” a few times from other leaders.
This seems a lot like a not so veiled warning and reference to Neville. |
ya think? |
| Wise of Canada to have elected an economist as their leader. They're going to need his experience and expertise. |

Yes Canada must prepare for a US invasion. The world order from WW2 based in law is gone. China and US will fight a new proxy and live war for dominance.
China is very far ahead of the US. |
| And Carney has stopped the lie about renewable energy and is embracing fossil fuels for Canada. |
DUH. |
No. Renewables are the future. Look at the first deal they did EVs. |
Carney has absolutely embraced renewables. https://natural-resources.canada.ca/energy-sources/powering-canada-s-future-clean-electricity-strategy |
| It’s unnerving how much Stephen Miller is becoming a behind the scenes Goebbels. If he had free rein and if WW2 wasn’t recent history, we would all be wearing patches on our clothes identifying the American born. |

Carney says old world order 'is not coming back
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly3d28p4p8o.amp Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the "old order is not coming back" and urged fellow middle powers to come together in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "Middle powers must act together because if we're not at the table, we're on the menu," Carney said on Tuesday, adding that he believed powerful nations were using economic coercion to get what they want. He also affirmed Canada's support for Greenland, Denmark and the Nato alliance, drawing applause. Carney did not mention Donald Trump by name, but some of his remarks seemed aimed at the US president, who is threatening to tariff European allies and the UK unless Greenland is surrendered to the US. "Great powers" are often defined as countries with permanent seats on United Nations Security Council - China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States - which shows their economic and military dominance in the world. |
Approved a pipeline from Alberta, going against their netzero goals, and prompting one cabinet member to resign. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/ottawa-alberta-energy-agreement-pipeline-9.6994715 |
Mark carney is still 8000x better as a national leader than Trump. Time for you to focus on the big picture as we are seeming to be dragged into WWIII. |
He did that because he understands compromise. Giving Alberta it's pipeline does not mean he has abandoned renewables. In a confederation like Canada you have to give and take. |
