The point of the speech was not to say workers shouldn’t unite but rather than people need to rise up and stop participating in rituals that help prop up a failing system with obvious flaws (ex: like communism in the Soviet era). Basically he’s saying to point out the emperor has no clothes and to take action as countries who acknowledge reality. Read it again-it was an excellent speech and Canadians should be proud. |
Yes, that would be great as I saw this posted on social media but have not seen in the national news. If true, why is this not getting attention! |
Listening to that speech and trumps toddler tantrums back to back really drives home how ridiculously unserious we are as a country. |

Canada would be better off as a territory at least Alberta would gladly come to the United States as Canada is a trash country right now |
What an idiot capitalist banker. He accidentally said that tyranny triumphed because the workers of the world didn't believe enough in their own power. |
That's not what he said. He didn't say to rise up. He said to take the signs down. His point was that the world should become as monstrous as Trump and stop pretending to be civilized. |
Insurgency against what? Local Canadian governors? Trump's military doesn't fight block by block to control territory They directly attack the leaders to gain control. I don't know who the brains of his operation are, but strategically they are the best military in American history. Venezuela was the cheapest military victory ever. |
Isn't Afghanistan under Taliban control? |
It's called compromise, moron. Republicans are unfamiliar with the concept. |
No he said Canada and other countries need to form alliances against the US. The US is now the same as Russia, North Korea, Israel, etc. |
Yes, I am the PP who also thought the speech was dreadful although you expressed it better than me. I agree with the fact that the world needs to speak out against Trump, I think it's terrible Carney relied on an anti-worker story. |
What? No, not at all. He was saying that people are complicit out of fear or their perception that they need to in order to survive. This was a call to the people to NOT be complicit. Don't compromise your values and go with the flow. |
Your lack of grasp of world history is astounding, poster. That wasn’t an anti worker story, not when Havel told it and not when Carney used it. Get off your phone and go to the library. |
It’s shocking and sad how ignorant you posters seem to be about Havel and his thinking and his place in history. Educate yourselves: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_the_Powerless |
