If your child applied to UChicago what are their stats? Did they get accepted?

Either she was fired from UChicago, her kid got burned, or she failed out and has a huge chip on her shoulder. It's annoying already to dominate this forum with hate for one school. Get over it already.

She posts about Chicago least every other day, and tries to derail any post that mentions the school with the same comments about ED0, debt, private schools, etc etc. Lady, please get a life!

THANK YOU. Maybe she is trying to get kids to not apply? It seems all her work was for naught so far for 2026, UChicago early apps up a lot. I don't get it.

UChicago doesn’t publish ED rates

And this is exactly why people on DCUM will say that everyone who applied ED will get in, the acceptance rate is sky-high, all the mediocre kids from their private are accepted, blah, blah, blah.

While it is infuriating that Chicago admissions plays games and lacks transparency, there is zero evidence that their ED acceptance rate is significantly different from their RD. Nobody knows!

My '25 kid applied ED1. MCPS. IBDP. 4.8UW, 1540. Great essays (that's what everyone says). 100% fit the profile of the 1-2 kids per year from our school that are accepted. Kid was rejected. We'll never know why, but they got into other great schools and are at an amazing college that is the perfect fit. Don't assume that all qualified ED kids get in. It's not true.

Reliable calculations are a 30-35% ED rate: there is a ton of evidence that UChicago ED rates are way higher than any school offering ED in the top 20. Not just a little higher — 20%-30% higher. It’s called math.

As for the CDS issue, wow, this went right over some posters’ heads. I guess some of you are clueless about how Chicago’s “gaming” includes lack of CDS transparency. This is old news to the uninitiated, but perhaps an epiphany for those out of their depth…

Nevertheless, the bottom line is that the stats of the UChicago first-year students are the same/indistinguishable from those of students at other top10 schools (as PP showed with the CDS data). The rest is noise.

How did you use "math" to get this conclusion if there is NO data? Do tell us!

Different poster. The 30-35 ED rate is greatly exaggerated. There is extensive discussion of ED acceptance rates in this reddit thread, if anyone cares to go down that rabbit hole.

My unhooked kid (public school unweighted 4.0 GPA; 1510 SAT) was waitlisted in the RD round last year. She chose not to do a LOCI.

I know a recruited athlete who got in. 4.3+ gpa, 12+ APs, advanced math and science classes at university level, dmv private, 1550 SAT.

Also know another admitted who is traditional hyper over achiever with 4.5+ gpa, 1580, economics awards, basically standard Chicago applicant.

Maybe because this has been discussed ad nauseum in previous threads! I'm so sick of this school!
