K Feedback / First Choice Letter

I am interested in thoughts here as well.

Do you think this trend in exmissions at Chapin is just a blip or has something more fundamental changed there?

If you’re at the kindergarten stage, I wouldn’t let this sway you from Chapin if you think it’s a good fit for your child and family. A lot can change in twelve years, and you always have the option to switch schools for middle or high school.

My friend's 3 boys went/go to Buckley (2 boys graduated and one is in 8th grade). My friend holds many social gatherings/charity events where I've met her boys several times throughout the years. I have to say, these 3 boys are the most polite, well-mannered, caring, smart boys I have ever met. They (the boys and their parents) loved the school and keep in touch with many. If I had a boy, I would choose Buckley. I've heard St. B's is way stuffier and more intense.

I am at a connected pre-school. At this point we still haven't heard any feedback from our PSD. Is this normal or a signal that we are already out of the game?

We’ve heard feedback from some but not all schools from our PSD at this point. It appears some schools are doing things differently this year and not being as communicative this cycle? I imagine (hope) we’ll have more clarity by sometime next week so we can also figure out where to send letters to.

Spence and Chapin both can get pretty academic in upper school. This is splitting hairs.

I am fine with waiting but just worried it will be too late to send out the first choice letter.. Assuming it should be sent sooner than later?

Thanks for sharing! Hopefully we can hear something back by next week..

Have you asked your PSD if there's been feedback and their answer was no? If not, then may be worth checking in with your PSD. Some are not in a rush to share it unless it requires an immediate response.

What kind of responses do you get back from first choice letters? Do admissions people tip their hand or keep it neutral
Anonymous
Wondering the same. For anyone who's been through this before, in hindsight were there any clues in the replies (or lack of reply) that meant something?
Anonymous
There are no direct responses to FC letters. They MIGHT hint to the PSD, and that PSD might tell you. Both have to be true.

Has anyone received feedback from Brearley or Horace Mann? Sounds like these two schools aren’t going to give any out?
