K Feedback / First Choice Letter

This is insane and malpractice. Kid in our class- they applied from PHILADELPHIA and they were moving here. They had their Philly PSD call and get feedback. Get your PSD to do the same or there’s no donation this year!

Oh and We forgot the thank you notes! I really hope these things don’t have that much of an impact. I don’t understand how a letter to express strong interest would move you higher on the pile.

Schools are interested in yield. They want to know you would come if offered a spot. Two equal kids/families, one with a letter of intent to attend if offered vs one with nothing-- who gets the spot?

We were from small unconnected preschool. No consultants. We did it on our own. We were lucky but made it to TT K. This is years ago. But we focused on big schools as we thought we have a better chance.

Has anyone else gotten feedback at this point?

No, where did you get feedback from?

We sent love letters to every school we loved (I think we sent 3) and one first choice letter to our top choice. But we had feedback and knew that school was interested.

What does your PSD say to do? What have others from your preschool done in the past? Can't she guide you?

Dumb question, but do we just email admissions our love/first choice letters?

Or you could write and drop them off. Or mail them. We wrote and dropped off.

We still don't have feedback yet. Wondering if any schools already shared feedback?

Chiming in to add that your psd is neglecting an essential part of their job. Coordinating placements is how it works here.

Is it fair to say that no feedback means that the school isn't interested? Particularly curious if people have heard if Brearley is sharing feedback proactively?

Wondering about Brearley too

People are saying Brearley is revealing more in January this year....

At this point in December, no feedback may be TBD... a little early!

Post today on Facebook about brearley feedback. They aren’t giving feedback until January and it is going to be more holistic? Not sure what that means. People saying the new head of admissions is overwhelmed. I can post more information from the thread if folks interested. Parents are confused because they are getting good feedback from chapin and Spence and don’t know what to do about first choice letters
