Yet? Or this is was last year?

This year

It’s still early. I just checked my notes and we had feedback from all schools that gave it just before winter break. Connected preschool.

Which schools give feedback?

Sounds like collegiate and HM don’t?

It's a fairly normal part of the role for private preschools, and even the less-connected ones will have some form of communication with ongoing privates about their interest (or lack thereof) in specific applicants.

She claims that there is no communication until the last week of January, when it is kind of pointless to express a first choice. I don't know if the fact that there hasn't been any communication from private schools is indication of lack of interest in our application in general? Or if I am reading too much into it.

Sorry to hear. I am nearly in the same position. I have heard this can happen for a few reasons - new preschool head, something went wrong in prior years and now the PSH doesn’t share previews, or they simply aren’t connected. I have also heard feedback isn’t always straightforward bc it’s not supposed to be happening. You can ask “should i be applying to more schools?” Or something? Good luck!!

Also applying for kindergarten this year and our PSD told us about the classroom visits that have happened and gave feedback. We also heard that right now they’re getting feedback from the early decision candidates and that we can’t expect to hear much more until after that decision is out. At that point, our PSD will be getting a lot of feedback and guiding us on our first choice letter. She said directly before Christmas or in January is when to send letters.

Different poster, but I’ve been a new applicant and an early decision applicant (sibling). A ton of feedback came in the middle of December when we were new applicants, specifically after early decisions went out (first Friday in December). All the schools have a much better picture of numbers and who they’re looking for to fill in their class after that process is over.

Early decision candidates know if there is a problem by now. Everyone else is pretty much coasting until decisions next week.

That is so odd. Last year, we got feedback from two schools soon after the interview process. PSD got informal feedback about two weeks of dc’s playgroup. We had the parent interview a few days after the playgroup. So, we may have gotten the feedback quickly. But some schools, like mentioned above, do not give any feedback and some schools are slow in giving feedback. I think it can be school specific and also PSD specific.

As to the schedule, our PSD told us she would like to know our preference before the holidays. But she did say we can let her know after the holidays too but it should be very soon.

For the posters who got the feedback very soon - were these all “ good “ feedbacks ? I’m just wondering if negative feedbacks are provided soon also ?or no feedback = not good ?

We didn’t have feedback until mid-December. It was all positive from the schools that gave feedback. We didn’t send love/first choice letters until 2-3 weeks before decisions. Got into our first choice, into a love letter school, rejected from one school that didn’t give feedback.

This is such a dumb question but what subject do I use for these love letters / first choice letter? Do I just put my child’s name and grade they are applying for in the subject or should I entitle it something else?

I hand delivered (crazy, I know) the first choice letter and mailed the love letters. Maybe that is old school.

Can’t wait for February to come. Tired of all the brown nosing and waiting. We’re at an in home daycare. No consultants. We can afford private. We didn’t know about feeder schools and didn’t think a consultant was worth it for lower school. Now I regret the latter.

Oh and We forgot the thank you notes! I really hope these things don’t have that much of an impact. I don’t understand how a letter to express strong interest would move you higher on the pile.
