Risks of attending a “Reach” school

I have a similar kid who applied to many of the same schools, OP. He got didn't apply to UMD but did apply and get into Tech, JMU, Pitt and Penn State main campus. He only got rejected by one school. I think the great thing about college is that you are able to focus on your interests and strengths. I was worried about the leap in intensity, especially because kid is a stem major, but he is doing great.

Thanks! I am OP and all the UMD and Brown discussions were hilarious but I couldn’t relate since my kid wont get into either!

This is helpful. Where did he end up?
