Happy to have solid back up pre med track.

Do you know if your child marked something on common app about being interested in honors college? My DD has almost exactly the same stats and hasn't received a merit offer. But I am not sure she checked an interest in honors college.

I should add that I am more interested in the merit than the honors college. I wouldn't expect my DD to get into honors if she didn't express an interest in it. But curious if merit is tied to applying for honors college.

DD received 15k Dietrich. Honors college. MCPS, 35 ACT, 4.9W. Pitt was her only likely college. She is happy with admit and merit.

DD just got the letter. Merit is $20K total ($5K a year). She's in at the business school. 3.85 unweighted GPA, 4.6 weighted, TO. I'm pretty sure the low merit aid is due to TO.

Are you OOS?

Yes, MCPS

Is anyone still waiting on merit? Accepted into engineering in mid October, accepted into honors college in early December. No merit yet though. 36 ACT so we thought he’d get something.

Pitt is a solid target for kids with high stats. You never know how things will pan out with elite applications, and my DC prefers to UMD.

DC applied early September, received admission 10/3, got merit letter 10/23 and received the Honors Decision Letter 12/5.

I'm surprised DC learned about honors yesterday as others who seemed to apply around the same time seemed to learn about honors at least a couple weeks ago.

Same here. My kid had strong stats but a not-so-strong essay (IMO), so I’ve been assuming merit is stats-driven and the honors college is essay-driven. But idk.

DC applied in early October. Received acceptance early November. Then a few weeks later received honors college acceptance and $10k / year merit. 1490 SAT, unweighted GPA around 3.75.

DD offered $40K! NOVA public with high stats.
