| 1500/4.9. Accepted into Business School + guaranteed acceptance into MBA (if attends undergrad) + $15K a year + Honors College. |
| CS, honor, $15k merit |
| $20K engineering honors |
| My child got accepted almost 4 weeks ago and hasn’t received any merit. They received an email today saying admission decision , in the body of the email is the “personalized video” of admission into Pitt with their name and the school of engineering written across during a general Pitt video. Was wondering if anyone else received such an email after their acceptance? |
DD also received one but had already received merit and offer to join the honors college. So it didn’t feel like new information. |
| We got the video today (DS was accepted back in Sept). I think it is just a hype video - not sharing new info. We haven't heard about merit or honors. DS has a high SAT but lower GPA (compared to the others reporting on this thread). |
DC was accepted in October but also no word re: honors or merit. 4.0 uw GPA, max rigor, and very high SAT. The communication today was puzzling and a bit disappointing, but I'm glad to hear that others got the same communication. |
| We also got the video but no merit offer - older child was offered $20k/year so younger child is disappointed |
|
For those sharing merit and honors information - did your child do anything extra to "apply" for either? Need to ask my DC if they have checked their portal.
Not sure if they'd qualify or not - 1450 SAT, 4 and 5s on APs, and 3.7 unweighted gpa from private school |
| It is possible for honors college that our child marked in the common app that they were interested, but nothing beyond that. |
| Nothing extra needed to apply for merit-honors college was just a checked box on the common app-nothing extra. |
| DS at private school, 1530 SAT, 4.0 uw 4.55 w got 10K Dietrich and into honors college. |
100%. Pittsburgh is a great city and appeaed to my city kid (DC born and raised). He felt like Blacksburg is the boonies and so hard to get to. I was shocked (I grew up in the sticks so Tech seemed idyllic to me). |

OOS 4.3 (3.9 UW) 1450 SAT Honors acceptance to Dietrich school 2 week after acceptance. Month later 40K merit (10K year)
Happy to have solid back up pre med track. |
Do you know if your child marked something on common app about being interested in honors college? My DD has almost exactly the same stats and hasn't received a merit offer. But I am not sure she checked an interest in honors college. |
