+10000 I love how everyone went to Trump bashing and neglected to mention that Virginia has been going to crap for years. People with money and jobs have been leaving for years. No on wants to talk about that. Va is a sinking ship which started long before trump.

Wait… I can’t get my DCUM story straight. I thought it was Maryland and MoCo that was turning into a dump.

All of it is a dump that's why people are leaving the area keep up!

Virginia is a little better off since it embraced large tech corporations and data centers. Still, 60% of Fairfax County residents are employed by the federal government one way or another. More diversification is necessary to avoid becoming a vassal of the federal hegemony.

Housing prices are most correlated with the stock market and how the economy is doing. So you should hope for an economic crash if you want more affordable housing. The problem tends to be that when economic crashes happen, all the people who vowed to buy when prices stabilized or came down suddenly become fearful of buying themselves.

Agree. The glory days for VA are over. It should have been evident when VA began investing so heavily in data centers -- it's a desperation move for a stagnant economy. Same with the failed deal to get the Commanders into Alexandria -- VA offered what every analyst said would have been the most sweetheart deal in NFL history. It was another desperation move.

This isn’t cyclical. This is Trump choosing to trash the VA economy.

By doubling spending on the military and adding 85 ships to the navy?

The DOD/DOW is one of the most wasteful/fraud filled branches of our government. They have never passed a financial audit. So who knows where the money goes.

Except that never happened. It was the Caps/Wizards arena.

If anyone is still wondering why the GOP got annihilated in a solidly purple state last November, you have your reason. Turns out firing people for lolz is not a popular political move.
