| You can’t throw a birthday party at a mansion and sell tickets for $200 each, but you can throw a birthday party and get $200 gifts. |
Did they do any research before slapping them up everywhere. It's making the horrible commute even more horrible, sitting in these lines waiting to turn right staring at intersection after intersection completely devoid of pedestrians. |
There's a pretty militant faction throughout the DMV that wants to make the roads as undriveable as possible. There's no specific research supporting anything they're doing -- they just cite to general research showing that traffic slowing measures can avoid injuries and deaths. But of course that doesn't have any limiting principle because if the goal is to avoid traffic injuries and deaths, then the perfect solution is to get rid of cars and roads altogether. It also doesn't take into account things like lost productivity and increased pollution. It's like they never took an econ 101 class where they learned that some injuries and deaths are part of everything we do (lots of construction workers die every year, but we don't stop building skyscrapers), and so we do need to ask if the costs of slowing people down more actually yields a benefit that is worth it rather than just having a generic goal of making driving as miserable as possible. So their endless pursuit is to make sure you drive as slowly as possible, with as many tools to slow you down as possible (low speed limits, cameras, no right turn on red, speed bumps). And paradoxically, as driving becomes more miserable, people find other things to ease the misery, like texting and watching TikTok while driving, which may explain why -- despite all the efforts to make driving more miserable -- injuries and deaths have not budged in this region. This isn't limited to Maryland BTW. It's also in DC and NoVA. |
We go to the DC line to buy our liquor. |

I needed to replace my gas blower so I went and bought a battery leaf blower. I returned it with four batteries. It wasn't powerful at all. I bought the biggest one they had and four batteries. The first battery lasted 15 minutes, the second battery lasted 12 minutes, the third battery lasted 14 minutes, and the fourth battery lasted 12 minutes. I had to wear thick gloves because the the handle was heating up. I packed up everything and returned everything. They gave me a hard time when I returned the blower but I said its a lemon and want my money back.
I got my refund and drove to PG county and bought a backpack gas blower. I don't think my neighbors will rat on me because they have to testify in court and I can get real nasty with them. |
^ so you are one of those "misinformed." |
Buy a better product then? I would report you ima second and you don’t scare me at all. |
| Anyone heard about a law that a female can't ride a horse alone in public? |
+1 As the number of speed bumps grows, I find myself rolling stop signs more often. If you're going to make me stop in the middle of the intersection, don't expect me to stop again 30 feet later at the stop sign. |
