Went to get beer today. Bar tender said he couldn't give me a pint of the beer because of MoCo laws that limited pours to 10 Oz only due to ABV. So stupid. In what world does this help? I could just order two beers to get more than a desired pint. Because of MoCo laws, I will get more drunk agyer being forced to buy two pours rather than being satisfied with an actual pint of beer. Such stupid nanny state junk.
The other really stupid law is use of roundup. Newsflash, use of roundup by a resident isn't going to cause mass cancer. It isn't going to kill pollinators. Yet MoCo nannying makes it 100x more difficult to control weeds on your own property. So dumb. I thought it'd be fun to list other insane and asinine MoCo laws and ordinances. What you got? |
Fun? |
Legalizing weed so now we all get to smell it. |
No gas leaf blowers but gas lawn mowers are ok |
Oh honey, that’s not a law. You’re a dumbass for believing it is. |
You must be our MAGA troll friend staying in a sleazy motel, and the bartender is playing you. Keep using your glyphosphate weed killer in your state. |
Barbershops and hair salons with beer/wine licenses are limited to 12 ounces. |
Ok I'll go:
- Separate regulations from the rest of MD on certification of gas outdoor fireplace filaments = only a few manufacturers to choose from and exorbitant prices - Bag tax, that 1) was not used to actually help the environment, the funds just went into the general fund and 2) applied to paper bags also even though brown paper grocery bags are made from recycled paper and are fuly recyclable. - Ambulance tax of $600, that was then voted down by voters in referendum, and passed again by the Council, overriding the will of voters, because the Council said voters were "misinformed" - $470 per tree to remove a tree from anywhere on your own property during a renovation (as part of the sediment control permit process) |
Didn't even know this. Truly insane! |
Here's more on it, directly from the County: https://www2.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcgportalapps/Press_Detail.aspx?Dept=1&Item_ID=6970&utm_source=chatgpt.com You can also see which Council members (including Elrich who was on the Council at the time) were in favor or against overriding the will of voters. |
I'm really curious about this one. I've never understood why this was controversial. Most jurisdictions bill for ambulance services, so when I found Montgomery County's practice very surprising when the referendum came up. They've always claimed that they just bill the insurance company, not individual. Has that not been true in practice? Or are you concerned about non-residents getting bills? |
closing school in bethesda when there were some snowflakes up in freaking damascus or god knows where. |
Is there a law or ordinance on that? That would explain the consistency of ridiculous decisions. |
Bizarre complaint. Is there any jurisdiction in this area that makes snow-related closure decisions on a school-by-school basis, rather than countywide? |
The point is snowflakes aren't a reason to close schools. And certainly snowflakes on Monday aren't a reason to close schools until Thursday. |
