Bring back gas attendants

This is really annoying in New Jersey.

Get used to waiting forever at gas stations. Even in wealthy areas, you wait an eternity. It’s not fun.

Chew our own food...

I don't understand the objection to a mere convenience. People pay for far more absurd conveniences. A gas attendant would be super helpful in bad weather, for people with limited mobility, the elderly, young kids in the car, etc. It would also help with employment gaps and not require any particular skill set.

Not the people who are objecting to it. I don't get my groceries delivered and rarely use DoorDash, etc. I don't pay for those conveniences because I'm perfectly capable of doing them myself and frankly do a better job. I'm also not going to pay extra for someone to pump my gas.

I live in NJ. Unless I go to Costco, I never have to wait to get gas, other than the 30 seconds it takes for the attendant to come over to me. At Costco I usually have to wait 5 minutes in line, but I had to do that in Virginia as well. It’s not an issue, and it’s nice not to have to do it yourself.

Stopping for gas there takes too long. I’m quick and like to stretch my legs.

True. Sitting in the car and waiting for the attendant to finally get to you is annoying.

Correct, but each of those options has a full-service alternative.

And those guys with the the big feathers or palm leaves that would fan the royalty. We need them back too.

No one else is advocating slavery. Move along.

Agree but NY is a bummer because nozzle latches are illegal there. I like to set it and forget it until it clicks. Use that time to gather some trash from the car etc

You're not really supposed to re-enter your car while pumping gas. Static building and all that.

Does New Jersey require an attendant to plug in your electric vehicle and stand there while it charges?

Electricity kills more people per year than gas. Seems reasonable that you need a specialist to charge your vehicle. It's not a giant cellphone.

+1 We spend a third of the year in Jersey and getting gas is better there.

Touch something metal grounded when you get out before touching metal on the nozzle. Mostly a winter/dry weather thing though and caused by clothing mostly, not entering or exiting a vehicle, especially not after a short period of time like that. More for long haul truckers and they use diesel anyway so moot.

Yeah, let’s imitate India to help get our lifestyle squared away.
