I'm MOB and love this dress. What does DCUM think?

thanks for the pp for the Neiman rec. This dress seems to available at Neiman, Saks, Nordstrom. Hope that doesn't mean multiple people will be wearing it.

With DCUM approval, I want to order this dress (in midnight navy). If you see that it's available at multiple departments stores - if there a preference among these in terms of service, alterations, etc? (the price of the dress is the same)

Neimans and Saks have the best designer alterations people but at that price point I doubt you'll have access. So I think Nordstroms because they are so reasonable about returns if there's a problem.

what price point do you need to be to have designer alterations?

Take a look at Saks designer salon. Labels are Armani, Versace, etc. You’ll see dresses in the thousands, I bought my last one about 15 years ago and I think it was about 3k back then. I wear it and another chic dress from an edgy boutique pretty much to everything cocktail or black tie. Both were well worth it for me but a MOB dress, you’ll want something more unique. I would shop in NYC; check out smaller boutiques if you want to manage the cost. I liked the picture of the last dress. I don’t know if it would look cheap in person. Sometimes a design that frilly is trying to hide the fabric flaws. Why don’t you order it, be careful the tags don’t fall off and assess it in person. If it’s good any Nordstrom seamstress can handle a hem. That dress won’t be a good candidate for extensive alterations. IMHO.
