When will shorter hair on women become more common?

Anonymous
Occasionally a female model, celebrity, or actress gets a short haircut, but it seems they all go back to long.

I recently got a short cut after decades of long hair, and I love the convenience and getting rid of the long weight, but it makes me look and feel matronly. I think in part the hot summer just made me sick of long hair.

As you age up hairdressers don't care what you look like. They give you unflattering cuts. Some of the oldest still get the perms from back in the day but the rest are given men's haircuts, shaved at the back and sides.

I just cut mine using youtube videos, just past shoulder length and put it in a ficcare when it's hot. The last time I went I was given a Dutch boy bob, very unflattering for my face shape so I just never go. I don't look worse than women who go to the hairdressers all the time.

Men like longer hair on women, at least shoulder length.
Shorter hair is seen as more lesbian thing or older woman thing.

Styles come and go. At some point, long hair will read as old lady and short stylish hair will read as youthful and fashionable.

Not for men. It's a long held universal truth they prefer longer hair.

Sure, and they prefer tighter, shorter clothes. That’s not same as what’s the current style.

Bad analogy.

ALL of our husbands prefer skinny jeans to the wide leg look and yet all the women I know wear the wide leg look. Women style themselves for other women.

Agreed! My dh begs me not to wear my wide legged pants. He thinks they look so unsexy on me. It’s strange too because he has never commented on my clothes otherwise. And I do think I look good in the wide legged pants, but skinny jeans are great.

I have very long hair and it is a PITA. It’s definitely very hard to maintain. I love it though and hate it every time I cut it. We were just commenting last night as we watched an old film how bad the women look on there because of short hair. They looked like grandma’s at 40. If Princess Di looked good with short hair- imagine how hot she would have been with long hair

Same here which is why I brought it up. He has never commented negatively on anything I have worn except wide leg jeans, he hates them! Millennial men love the skinny jeans look and their wives are like "too bad". Why should hair be different?
Also when I met my husband I had short hipster hair (2009) and he thought it was hot then.

Wut? No one is giving people perms or shaving heads without consent.

hmm- that isn't always true, know a lot of guys who prefer the princess DI look, don't like long straggly hair. also haley Bieber has a bob and so does that super stylish girls- Steve Harvey's daughter think?? lots of the girls in their 20s have "lobs' with messy waves. the long, moron style hair is very popular in manga circles or just the mainstream- not the fashion girlies and highschool girlies have straight hair right out of a 1973 year book- all look like serial killer victims in true crime documentaries.
